Linear Soundstage
I've seen a few reviews on here in which the reviewers refer to the soundstage of a headphone as being linear, usually in pointing out a headphone's shortcomings. for the life of me I can't quite figure out what this means. My only guess is that the soundstage lacks depth. Someone please help me...- Mandala

Schiit Lyr Tube Rollers
An hour of play time in my Lyr and I already think I'm in love with these 1960 Bugle Boy large halo getters. I've got a pair of 69' Orange Globes coming later in the week, but They'll have to seriously be amazing to top what I'm hearing with the Bugle Boys.- Mandala

Schiit Lyr Tube Rollers
So after selling the Voskhods, I ordered a pair of 1960 Bugle Boy large halo getters. I don't really have any expectations whatsoever; I'm just excited to try them out.- Mandala

They are Voskhods. It appears to be a flat plate that curves at the top, kinda like a street light would.- Mandala

Schiit Lyr Tube Rollers
I've found some good prospects, but I have to say these Voskhods are really starting to open up. I think I may not have given them enough time before passing judgement.- Mandala

Schiit Lyr Tube Rollers
So after giving both my stock GE tubes and my Voskhod 75' VRockets ample time to burn in, I have to say I prefer the GE tubes. The Voskhods have great dynamics, but they're a little too dark for my tastes. I'm not sure where to go from here. I'm looking for something detailed, with a great...- Mandala

Thinksound on1 Supraaural Headphone: My Impressions
I can't speak for the other headphones, as I've not heard them, but I can say after having owned the On1 for a few months now that the bass is plentiful and very impactful.- Mandala

Schiit Lyr Tube Rollers
I'm not too worried about it. I think it might be a reference to another tube with a halo getter. I got my Lyr on Friday with just a couple hours before work to listen before work. I thought the GEs sounded fine... Well, it's more a matter of not having a basis for comparison, but I'm going to...- Mandala

Schiit Lyr Tube Rollers
So, I'm curious about something... I did a search of this thread just to get an idea of the sound signature of the stock GE tubes that ship with the Lyr (my Lyr will be arriving in a few days--- thanks Jexby -- along with a pair of 75' VRockets) and I wanted to give the GEs their due time...- Mandala

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.
I actually read an article somewhere where a guy was comparing a few amps with the 400. If I'm not mistaken it was the Fiio E17/E09k, the Burson Soloist, and the Lyr. His general impression was that the major difference between the fiio rig and the Lyr was that the bass tightened up...- Mandala

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.
After I'd had my HE-400 for a while I was torn between investing in better equipment to bring out more of the 400's potential and just buying the HE-500. The overwhelming consensus is that the HE-400 really doesn't scale enough to merit an amp/dac upgrade and that I should just upgrade my phone...- Mandala

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.
My HE-500 was literally delivered less than an hour ago and straight out of the box with no burn in and through the less-than-optimal Fiio E17/E09k I'm already thoroughly impressed with the improvements in sound signature over my HE-440: more linear bass extension, evened out mids, and a treble...- Mandala

Actually from what I understand the big flagship project for Fang , and the big "hush hush" secret from CES is the Jade 2 electrostat. That's not to say that the HE-6 won't undergo a major revision.- Mandala

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.
I figured that since I plan on buying a Lyr later this month, that between tube rolling, cable swapping, and possibly mods, whatever small tweaks I need to make to the sound signature I can achieve progressively through experimentation.- Mandala

Well, as much as I wanted to hold out until March for the release of the 560, the potential for QC issues with the new model (as with any newly released product), coupled with the way too tempting reduced price of the 500 led me to pull the trigger on a pair last night. I'm really excited.- Mandala

Hifiman HE-400i and HE-560: From CES to Pre-Launch
Echoing what a lot of people have said about the 400 on here, If you primarily listen to electronic music, or if you listen to a lot of newer, well-mastered recordings then the 400 is great. I personally think Tim Hecker's Ravedeath,1972 album sounds fantastic through the 400. It's only when you...- Mandala

Hifiman HE-400i and HE-560: From CES to Pre-Launch
The right side of the cable to my 400 has shorted out because the part of the connector that's before the "screw" has detached itself. I think it may have been more due to my own carelessness than any design flaw, but beyond that I haven't had any issues with the connectors.- Mandala
