Millett "Starving Student" hybrid amp
Yeah, I was referring to mods to the Starving Student. Sorry for not being clear. Those transformers are like ~130 each and you need more than one of them so that makes the SRPP much more expensive. I saw that Pete said that he tried driving the K-1000 with the Starving Student and that...- intlplby

Millett "Starving Student" hybrid amp
I was thinking of building Pete's ECC99 SRPP Headphone Amp to drive my K-1000 but the BOM is outside my current budget. I saw that Pete said that this amp was able to drive the K-1000s. I have two questions: 1) Is it worth building this to drive K-1000? It doesn't have to drive the K-1000s...- intlplby

Need a hardcore DIY solution for my RFI & EMI Problem
okay... I think I got a handle on the RFI..... the interconnect shielding is grounded at the source end (pre-amp) and on the power amp end I soldered a wire to the shielding and ran it out and connected it to the chassis of the power amp... this appears to have killed most of the RFI...- intlplby

I've decided to put together a Quail Power cord group buy. The Quail Power Cord is the exact same power cord as the Iron Lung Jellyfish that is commonly available for $39 each. This is a 300% mark-up on the price direct from Quail electronics. For quantities 1-49 the price I was quoted is...- intlplby

Searching for the best analyzing, not "colouring", monitoring headphones
truth is that you should mix with the medium you plan on having the music on.... most likely speakers...... headphones should only be used if you can afford to put together an acoustically treated room, in which case i'd use k1000s to get the best approximation of speakers....- intlplby
