Hey everyone...   Had been enjoying an old iph-140 i had rockboxed/CF-modded to 120GB and with the big Cino battery...it was truly amazing. But unfortunately i plugged the wrong power supply into it one night and fried the battery/something - might try salvaging later when time allows. My...

Headstage Arrow HE: Reviews, Impressions, Perceptions & Sensations

just under a week. maybe some personal points i really like: sound. bass is the deepest and most enjoyable to my head of all others, and i have a lot of amps, including the e12, which i also love. the auto-power is absolutely brilliant. with it mounted to the iriver ihp140 ala vel-cro and the...

Exactly - I would call Rudi's gears as an example...or SAMPLE...of what's out there. He is a pioneer as far as I am concerned, blazing trails for us to ponder over and enjoy.   And yes if we are brave enough we can join him...   I for one appreciate the photography and the commentary.  ...

Pictures of Your *Budget-Fi* Portable Rig (< $200)

thanks guys, now back to the reason why we're here...   Spent hours last night fiddling around with the parametric eq in RB3.13 on the 5.5G ipod video (pretty beat up, but functional from ebay 60GB...~$45). man the Par-EQ totally makes all the difference in the world. found a setting that...

Headstage Arrow HE: Reviews, Impressions, Perceptions & Sensations

Just got mine in today - pre-owned 3rd gen. It is tiny. Pictures definitely do not convey the actual diminutiveness.     Paired with 120G IPC/ALAC to UM3x with the Fiio recable.   Nice rich bass (on "1" for now...). Easy mids and highs not overbearing...might try the TF10s to compare, or...

um errr nothing?   methinks we all in here speak a similar language - be it cars, audio, outdoors, etc...   an older setup i had (e11 in the back) the 8gb ipod touch i had borrowed from my niece so officially it didnt buy it. and officially she took it back. the brainwavz were confiscated by...

More Fiio X3 64GB MicroSD Issues!

Maybe should add here for other's benefit - i was having the same ["card not read"] error woes on a pair of 64gb sandisk cards - even being as 1 was bundled with the fiio through amazon.   I had been using minitool partition wizard and it appeared to format to fat32, and the cards read and...

    Pictures of Your *Mid-Fi* Portable Rig ($200 - $600)

spent the weekend with the x3 in my pocket playing flac off a 64gb card (ala amazon bundle for 250US), and the ebay sourced tf10s (183 open box). so far i have no comparison to other daps, but seem to prefer the tf10 to the um3x pairing. although i CANNOT lay down with the tf10s.

Poll: Parametric EQ on Fiio X3

if James is calling it a possibility then that is a win in my book. just need to be patient and keep my music collection growing.   the fuze v1 with RockBox is an amazing sounding little DAP - adding some level of parametric sound control to the x3 would just make it so that much more...

    Pictures of Your *Mid-Fi* Portable Rig ($200 - $600)

my version of trickle down theory...if i may. got a sony pha-1 recently and so started the (selectively) mindless task of converting flac to alac or ripping what i didnt have in flac already to alac...i rem when i told my self 192 is the best sound ever - yea i did. ok, job done. now that dead...

Pictures of Your Portable Rig (part XVI)

catching up with some much overdue reading - action packed evening for sure. ive found the synergy of this setup to be by far the most enjoyable. the 5 hour limit on the pha-1 is short but oh well...i dont mind it much. now back to the books.
