Carlo I'm using Oehlbach cones. They're made in Germany and I bought them here in Korea, where I live. I did not replace the original feet--to do that you have to remove the bottom plate and I didn't want to do that. Besides, Mikail advised against it, recommending cones.

I agree that the DT 880s will give you the sound you're looking for. A used pair matched with a used MPX3 will more than likely take you where you want to go for your $800.

I've got the classic MPX3 with the EH tubes (without the upgraded caps) and it sounds mighty fine. You can hold off on NOS tubes until you can afford them and still have plenty of amp.

I don't listen to a lot of trance but early Porcupine Tree sounds great on my DT-880s. I think they are great phones that maybe get a little bit of disrepect due to their smoothness. But I think they do quite a few things quite well and they sure are a lot more comfortable than Grados. YMMV

Everytime I touch my MPX3 I leave a smudge or fingerprint on the metal case. What do you guys use to shine up your singlepower amps and keep them looking shiny and new? Thanks. Brian
