MP3 vs Uncompressed
Or is it for recordings with extremely high highs? My Prodigy, fat of the land, cd is synthesized music for the most part and it rips at 1400kbs!!!! I then tried a 192 vs. lossless and in the car showed a big difference at higher voulme. My UM1 did with my ipod 60gb, but just barely with my...- blue4n3

MP3 vs Uncompressed
I find a negligable difference between the two. I dont have Martin Logans just yet, so I'l rip my music thats "audiophile quality" in lossless just in case. That said....you can buy refurb lacie HD for around 100-200 bucks and get 250-500 gb of space. Who cares then? reconvert for all your...- blue4n3

First of all, paying a premium for a porsche instead of a Ford is not a good analogy to Bose vs. whwatever else. Your are not paying a premium for just the porsche name and can get a Ford instead. It is NOT just about having something that people look and stare and point at either. I would...- blue4n3

Difference between headphone and regular amps
Buy an amp that comes with a trial period. I know there must be a manufacture somewhere that offers 30 days...... Anyways, buy an amp from a reputable company like Headroom and see for yourself. You can read all you want here, but your experiences may differ substantially. Only you can...- blue4n3

HELP; shure e4c, UM2, or ety 4p/s
From what I hear, the Ety are very analytical. The E4c are similar in that regard, but add a nice bass body and a slightly forward midrange. The UM2 have a more neutral presentation in which everything is flat. the E4c have a slight mids bump that gives it a little extra detail/clarity. That...- blue4n3

UM2 questions
With the SuperMini don't use the impedence switch. I think it does something to the crossover network and you get the details sucked out and a VERY congested sound. I use the solid tube and it seems to add a touch of bass impact and high end sizzle (in good, synergistic, way)- blue4n3

extremely disappointed in Ec3's
I had the same problem. I went out and bought some Westone UM2 after that. Wow the bass was better, just as comfortable, and nice for all different genres. That said, I love my E4c, and wont be giving them up anytime soon becuase they have gobs of detail, larger soundstage, better dynamics...- blue4n3

SWEET Headroom Deal!!
Can anyone comment on the synergy with the k701 and Headroom amps? I like the DAC/Amp synergy in the headroom combo, but how does it translatge when connected to the AKG? I think that the combo WAS made for the hd650 becuase of the differences between it and my Supermacro/mini. Seems to have a...- blue4n3
