SMSL SP200 THX AAA 888 Balanced AMP!
Has anyone used this with Elear? I'm assuming the results should be similar to Elex? I'm currently using Dragonfly Red or Cayin N5 mk2 into Fiio E12 DIY. I'm considering this, Monolith THX, iFi Micro BL or Shiit Asgard 3. I have a couple of DAC options I can use with this but an all in one...- defguy

Dragonfly Red vs Any DAP
I was using DFR with my phone. I would say the Cayin N3 was pretty close in sound quality, Cayin N5ii, especially when using the balanced output, is a step up from the Red- defguy

Cayin N5ii Android based Master Quality Digital Audio Player
I have the K702 Anniversary. I didn't find that it paired that well with the N5ii, even on hi gain it was lacking something. I think the AKG's are probably a little too power hungry. I own the original Magni and it works pretty well with them so the Magni 3 should be pretty good- defguy

Cayin N5ii Android based Master Quality Digital Audio Player
Interesting review! Maybe a little too focused on the software but well written. One of the problems with these types of devices is that everyone seems to want them to duplicate a lot of the functions of their smart phones when the primary purpose of them is to be a high quality music source...- defguy

Cayin N5ii Android based Master Quality Digital Audio Player
This is a super dumb question, but is there any way the track skip button may have gotten bumped? I've had something like this happen but it's usually when I start listening to an album and put the player in my pocket or somewhere else. I assumed I had just hit the track skip button by mistake...- defguy

Cayin N5ii Android based Master Quality Digital Audio Player
No noticeable trigger, just turned it on and the oranges were blue, turned the screen off and back on and it was normal. Mine has very slight lag on the physical buttons- defguy

Cayin N5ii Android based Master Quality Digital Audio Player
I finally had the inverted color glitch, I think I liked the incorrect color scheme better, other than the album art weirdness :) Maybe a new skin in a future firmware version?- defguy

Cayin N5ii Android based Master Quality Digital Audio Player
My N5ii locks up during the initial turn on cycle, it requests language then time zone. After that it goes to the Cayin logo with the meesage: "commencing the ultimate experience" at the bottom and the machine freezes. I can swipe down to access the settings but nothing else happens. I did do a...- defguy

Cayin N5ii Android based Master Quality Digital Audio Player
My N5 ii did this lock up immediately out of the box, won't get past the original 2 set up screens, when i tried to boot into the bootloader, I just get a black screen with a white dot indicating the power is on. Does the bootloader screen take a while to show up?- defguy

Cayin N3 Hi-Res DAP with AKM4490 DAC, apt-X Bluetooth, and Line, USB & Coax Out for $150
I have both devices so I can give you a rough idea. I would say the N3 is a little bit smoother and the DFR is maybe a very little bit edgier and slightly livelier. I haven't used the DFR too much since the N3 burned in properly but fresh out of the box the DFR was better. In my opinion, there...- defguy

Cayin N3 Hi-Res DAP with AKM4490 DAC, apt-X Bluetooth, and Line, USB & Coax Out for $150
The branded cable that came with my player only works as a charge cable, my pc wouldn't recognize the N3 at all. No problems at all with a different USB C to USB cable- defguy

Campfire Audio Vega (and Dorado and Lyra II) - Head-Fi TV
Most definitely, although I did get a new DAP at the same time, which was also burning in so I can't too accurately describe the differences. I would say the bass was a little wooly and bled into the mids and now it doesn't.- defguy

Cayin N3 Hi-Res DAP with AKM4490 DAC, apt-X Bluetooth, and Line, USB & Coax Out for $150
The fact that it doesn't drive your HD 600's well isn't too surprising, those headphones sound tend to sound pretty lifeless without quite a bit of power, more than most DAP's put out. You should be able to change the length of the screen time out in the settings- defguy

Noble Audio - the Wizard returns!
I'm curious if the sound signature of the the Katana is closer to the Savant? I've listened to the Savant U a couple of times and did a very brief instore comparison to the K10U. If I could find the vivid midrange of the Savant with a little more bottom end, I think that would be close to...- defguy

Headphone to IEM converts?
I've owned a pair of HD 600's for a very long time, and a pair of K 702 Anniversaries for quite a while but I tend to listen to my Noble 3's driven by a Dragonfly Red more than either of them, There may be a few things the full sized cans do better but there are also a lot of things the IEM's do...- defguy

Dragonfly Black on KitKat 4.4.2
It's just running on 4.4.2, I haven't felt the need to root it etc. I haven't needed it to do anything the stock setup wouldn't allow other than changing the launcher from Touchwiz to Action 3- defguy

New Dragonfly Black and Red Discussion
I know you are fairly set on the HD 600, but you may find that some of the alternatives suggested may be just as good or better while still being easy to drive. For example, I personally prefer my K702 Anniversaries to my 600's and I've tried out some others in store with my DFR that I'm...- defguy

That's a bit of a tricky question, I haven't heard the Modi but I would be inclined to think the DFR is probably a superior DAC but the 600's will come alive a bit more with the Magni. My gut feeling is that the Magni/Modi combo might be a little better with the 600's- defguy

I use the Magni with mine but that does make it less portable. I found driving the Magni with the DFR actually worked really well, better than the Cambridge Dacmagic I've been using although that combo starts to climb out of the price range you mentioned- defguy

New Dragonfly Black and Red Discussion
I own an early pair of HD 600's, which may be more difficult to drive than the current ones, and, while they sound pretty good with the DFR, I would say they would still be happy with more power. If you can, see if you can try a few other options that are slightly easier to drive like the Hifi...- defguy

Sorry about the vague info, was in the middle of something :) I've tried the Red with the Audeze Sine briefly in store and it worked fine. At home with my 702's, it sounds good but is probably a little volume limited. With my HD 600's it works pretty well but they could definitely use more...- defguy
