Anything better @ $499 than Koss ESP/95X for high fidelity?
Merry Christmas everyone! I can only say thanks to Drop and Koss for providing a Christmas surprise for their EU ESP95x version at $290. I guess i am part of the lucky few that got the Koss combo for that price. I saw it go out of stock after 2 hours so i guess a very limited number was...- nutric08

I've got a pair of HD600s and a Dragonfly Red USB DAC, where do I go now?
Only you can decide. Different take on sound. Dynamic vs electrostatic. Try to demo both before purchase Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk- nutric08

Need Your Opinion on Entry-Level Headphone Setup
And where is here? If you are in EU you can get anything from thomann.de with free shipping over 300 EUR. The HD 600 is 270 eur and you can throw in an entry level amp just to get free shipping. EDIT: Or get the HD650 for 299 EUR- nutric08

I've got a pair of HD600s and a Dragonfly Red USB DAC, where do I go now?
IMHO you should listen to the HD800s. Very detailed without being fatiguing and a noticeable step up from the HD600. Nothing beats a STAX tho for transparency.- nutric08

Need Your Opinion on Entry-Level Headphone Setup
You are not far off from the HD6x0 series price wise. It would be a better "start" than the HD5xx range. Worry about an amp/dac later.- nutric08

Big fan of the late 80s/early 90s Sony ES stuff. Really high end. A touch on the warm side of neutral. Perfect for the HD600. Congrats on the pre/amp combo Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk- nutric08

Please help me to find a headphone amp/dac.
I never said things wouldn't sound better. Just that the difference isn't as big as getting a better headphone would be. If you go with the amp/dac combo you can check the O2 by NwAvGuy and his odac as a good alternative to mass produced equipment. Since importing from the States is quite...- nutric08

Please help me to find a headphone amp/dac.
If you are looking for better sound maybe it would be wiser to get a better headphone. Getting an amp/dac will not result in day/night differences on your current setup. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk- nutric08

You have a MacBook in front of you and a set of HD600s on your head. What DAC/AMP do you put in between these two on a modest budget?
Buy the cans. That should stop the itch for at least a little while. Later you can buy an amp/dac but dont expect a BIG difference. Rather subtle differences which are hard to detect if you are not familiar with the sound of your headphone unamped. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk- nutric08

HD600 portable DAC/AMP
I would go with number 4. Get to know your headphone. Later get an amp or amp/dac combo to complement your setup. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk- nutric08

How good (or bad) sounding is the headphone amp in the Marantz CD6006 CD player?
I have the Marantz 5001 cd player. All i can say is that it smears detail to sound "pleasant" to extreme levels. My mobile phone sounded more "detailed". Not sure how it compares to new versions. The headphone amp drove my hd600 to high spls with no problem. The SQ of the amp could not be...- nutric08

HD600 portable DAC/AMP
For $100 you can get an O2 amplifier (to be built by yourself) or a little more for a ready to use unit. It can be run on batteries or ac outlet.- nutric08

HD600 portable DAC/AMP
I listen to my hd600 with the Samsung s4 (i9505) all the time without an amp. I can get to moderate sound level with ease. Order the headphone and enjoy the sound. When the time comes and budget allows get an amp/dac combo. Dont overthink it- nutric08

Sennheiser HD 600 Impressions Thread
I couldn't agree more. I sold my hd600 two years ago and had short albeit sweet experiences with Audeeze LCD 2 and the Senns hd800 since then. Now i miss the hd600 so much i'm in the market to buy them again. The hd800 and Audeeze are sonically superior (IMHO not by a lot) but the listening...- nutric08

Opinions on new cans, please
I'm going to be in the market for new cans to complement my hd600. The choice is going to be an electrostatic earspeaker, stax sr-404 with srd 6/7 or Koss esp/950 with e/90. What would you get if you were buying stats for the first time? If anyone has a better idea speak up!- nutric08

Do you listen to headphones out of your price range?
And in 10 days when you forget all about the sound of the HD800 you can have the same face expression again with the hd650. It's always good to audition headphones just to get the idea what are you looking for in a pair of cans.- nutric08

Open/Semi Open portable with sound similar to HD600 or IE8
I listened to the SR 001 mk2 today and in my opinion it doesn't blow the hd600 (even unamped). The mids are forward - and quite a bit so!- nutric08
