Sennheiser HD 600 Impressions Thread

Well said about keeping the one that you like better and using the funds for other gear.

As for going public with large headphones IIRC there was one person who uses the HD-600 in public that was on this thread a while back and my GF used to use her HD-700 which has been changed to a Ypsilon build, light and better sounding to her with the Fiio X3, she doesn't like the X3ii as much since to both of us its a touch brighter than the original X3 but with headphones like a slightly warmer headphone like a Momentum or Fidelio L1 its a pretty good pairing.

Yes, well, I think your GF could wear coke bottles on her ears in public and still look awesome! I hear there was snow on the big island. Cheers mate.

Yep, got some snow but the elevation is so high that many get altitude sickness if they try to play around up there.

Thank God for Amazon Prime's two-day free shipping.

My replacement cable is in, and I have my HD600's back on.

I just have to love how the HD600 is still so darn relevant and respected. This thread remains very active which is nice to see. I consider the DT880, while a different signature, also one that will stand the test of time and remain relevant.

I noticed the 80ohm version of the DT880 doesn't sound as good as the 250ohm version. I like the 250ohm version a lot, but seriously the 80ohm version is lower than my farts Lol

You put 80ohm drivers in them?

I dont think there are 80ohm 880 are there?

Do you mean 32 ohm?

Anyway 770.80 i think are great, as well as 880.250

32ohm seem hit or miss but 660.32, 440.32 seem A-OK to me

everywhere i read 600ohm is KING of 880

I had a 770.80 and I agree, it was a nice headphone. If you believe it, I used it as a portable!

So finally got my HM5 ear pads today, using them in my HD 555.

Wondering though how to attach them in such a way they don't fall off when I take them off my head but at the same time can be removed to be cleaned/

Not gonna lie, these headphones are absolute magic never have I found a sound signature like this in my life. Its so naturally 3D and wide sound stage and OPEN and airy.

In the end I bought these ear pads to repair my HD 555 and I bought a GTX 1060 Video Card and Tom Clancy's The Division. It will give me much more enjoyment than just the HD 600 alone, this was the best way I could find to waste my money.

Are the HD555 earpad mounting rings like the HD600's? The HD600's rings for the earpads are attached to the pad itself I think so if you were to change pads to something that weren't HD600 pads, then I think you would have to cannibalize the old pad rings. Is that how the pad rings are set up for the HD555 and its pads?

I'm running SLI EVGA 780 SC 6GB right now.

I'm waiting for the 1180 Ti (so, like..2 more years?), and I'll upgrade to a single one of those :)

Congrats on your new toys!

I remember the day late spring of this year that a box like that arrived at my house. Little did I know, I wouldn't be getting any sleep the next night. Album after album, song after song, I pretty much never took the thing off for well over 10 hours.

Enjoy!

I use it when im lay down with tablet and FIIO McInley or w/e ($25 amp) and it works great. Tablet is galaxy 2 ( inch) so i am not surprised.
Its suprisingly open sounding, but for some reason not as much as 660.32 with same tablet/amp. Mind you the 660 lacks the bass impact, its super flat, uncolored.
Anyway i got them both for portable though i enjoy them while lay down as well

one imp factor people forget is that "relaxed and not worried about them breaking down while laying down" feature

anyone sleep with 600/650\/? will it survive

Yeah I sleep with my 650 on but only for a max of 2 hours, because then I tend to wake up and take the headphone off. I've been doing this for several months now, and so far no physical manifestation has been incurred hehe

The most comfy for me and the one I sleep with most is koss ur40 it's sides are flat and also tougher than it looks. But I put velour pads.
Other cans I accidentally fall asleep with. Ur40 intentionally. And it sounds pretty good. And cheap if it breaks

I like using schiitty IEMs for sleeping since my sleep schedule is out of wack most of the time I don't get bothered with outside sounds with the isolation. Works pretty well and also with some DSP to make the soundstage unnaturally huge helps me to fall asleep.
