<$1000 USD amp and DAC for HD600
Hi all, I just ordered the HD600 and am eagerly waiting for its arrival :D Currently, I have an Apogee Mini-DAC http://www.apogeedigital.com/products/mini-dac.php that has served me quite well, as both an amp and DAC, with IEMs and AD700 for 4-5 years. It supports 24/192 over a variety...- justin2net

Musiland Monitor 01 USD 24/192 USB to SPDIF
Hmm, that's interesting. Is it absolutely bit perfect if it has a master volume control? I mean, it would alter the digital output when changing the volume...this isn't a DAC... Could you find some 192 khz material to try? You can PM me. Thank you for your observations so far.- justin2net

Soundcard with absolute best SPDIF quality?
There is also the M-Audio Audiophile 192. Based on the VIA Envy24HT, same as the Juli@. Installed drivers provide ASIO support. I use it to transport 192khz by coaxial to my DAC without a problem (both Windows XP and Mac OS X).- justin2net

Onboard sound S/PDIF vs discrete sound card S/PDIF
Depends...I have tried outputting from various cards, including the Prelude, Audiophile 192, X-Fi Platinum, and some Realtek onboards. The difference is relatively minor, even up to 24/96 and 24/192. Though my DAC does "dual reclock".- justin2net

Coaxial/Optical SP/DIF Transport

Coaxial/Optical SP/DIF Transport
I have an "decent external D/A"...(read the first sentence of my post!) I prefer the Apogee sound over the Benchmark...and a few other engineers as well! I just need basically "PCI(e)->Coax" 24/192.- justin2net

Coaxial/Optical SP/DIF Transport
I have an Apogee Mini-DAC Firewire that does not work with XP SP3 and Vista (if you would like to know more about my findings, PM me). As a result, I am searching for a 24/192 PCIe or USB transport for relatively cheap sum. It must be 24/192 because I have quite a bit of content in 192khz, and...- justin2net

Which custom IEMs for classical only?
Well, I'd prefer to keep it down, as really, I will probably change again in the next year, and the next...and what if I loose them, etc. The UE-11 works out to $575 an earphone! I'm really trying to make it 600 and below, 600 is really at the edge (people would kill me for spending that...- justin2net

Which custom IEMs for classical only?
Your post was very informative! I really appreciate you going in so much depth. You've really got me convinced about the UE 11.....geez..... :| Is the Triple.fi comparable to the ES2, assuming a perfect fit? In a crude way: UE11pro>Triple.fi>ES2 (excluding Ety, I love the Ety...- justin2net

Which custom IEMs for classical only?
How about the Shure? The main problem with the Ety is even with foams, they stick out alot and just moving my head from left to right, vice versa, causes them to come out (move cable=move monitor out of ear). The Shure E3s fit perfectly though (with yellow foams) Earbuds won't stay in my ears...- justin2net

Which custom IEMs for classical only?
I'm looking for some advice on custom IEMs. I have a pair of Shure E3s and Ety ER4s. I upgraded to the Ety cause the Shure started sounding dull and weak and I prefer a very detailed sound. Problem is, the Ety's don't fit very well, mainly because the barrel is so long and my ear canals must be...- justin2net
