So...who's using Windows 7 right now?
Quote: You realize that turning Superfetch and Indexing off is a noticable performance hit rather than boost? And why turn off UAC? The only time it ever triggers for me is when installing or uninstalling programs. Congratulations - you just turned off all the usability and security...- djgustashaw

The Verve - Forth
I do find that the recording is a bit loud/compressed. I listened to it all the way through a few nights ago on a pair of SR60's and then put in Urban Hymns and was surprised at how much clearer Urban Hymns sounded. It's not that offensive though, certainly no Red Hot Chili Peppers album. Maybe...- djgustashaw

The Verve - Forth
I'd definitely like to throw in my two cents on this one... I think this is my first post in about two years. I got into The Verve's music five or so years ago through Urban Hymns and I definitely consider that to be my favorite album by any artist. I gradually picked up all of their other...- djgustashaw

Good studying and relaxing music
Presto - Magic LP. Amazing album of laid back hip hop with several tracks that are just relaxed beats. You can preview it on Amazon's mp3 store. Another album of his is Inflight Instrumentals, but I haven't heard all of that one yet. The Beta Band - The Three EP's. This has been my study...- djgustashaw

best free windows xp security software
PC World's website has a good article about 15 free security/antivirus/anti-spyware programs that I linked to below. I use a Mac myself, but I recently installed XP using boot camp and I'm probably much more paranoid about security than your average Windows user. PC World - 15 Great, Free...- djgustashaw

MacBook and PowerBook G4 screens are distorting-- help!!
They're connected to the internet via an ethernet cable that plugs directly into the wall. I live in a fraternity house and our router is located in a separate electrical closet; I checked to see what brand it is, and it appears to be made by Cisco (I'm guessing it's the router because it was a...- djgustashaw

MacBook and PowerBook G4 screens are distorting-- help!!
You're right, it could, but I just started thinking it could be some kind of interference this morning when the MacBook freaked out and I haven't yet had time to test it by moving them around. Before that, I was just convinced my PowerBook was a POS.- djgustashaw

MacBook and PowerBook G4 screens are distorting-- help!!
About three weeks ago, the screen on my 3.5 year old PowerBook G4 (15") started to distort. I've linked a picture at the bottom so you can see what it looks like, but it can kinda be compared to getting really bad TV reception with bunny ears. Given that I've had loads of trouble with my...- djgustashaw

do you iTunes?
Personally, I try to avoid buying music from iTunes or similar places as much as possible. The main reason for this is because of all the red tape that comes attached with the files you download (DRM and such). I bought a few tracks off iTunes when it first opened, and now they won't transfer to...- djgustashaw

Now that Tower is gone, where do you buy your music?
Within the past year, both of my main sources of music have gone under: the incredibly cheap alldirect.com for online purchases, and Tower for when I wanted to go to a B&M store. Finding a replacement for online purchases didn't take too long, as I just use amazon these days. There's also other...- djgustashaw

RS1 vs RS2 vs The Rest of the Grado Line
Hmm, make sure you have a well-matched amp with any of the Grado phones you get if you're trying to avoid harshness. I've got a pair of SR60's (with bowl pads), which I used for several years before finally getting an amp, a PA2v2 specifically. It really did a lot to clean up the overall sound...- djgustashaw

My SLAPPA!!! story
I agree with all the sentiments in this thread so far... the cases are high quality and the customer service is even better. I had trouble with a case I ordered from them once (an older one before they changed to the current sizes), and upon emailing them they promptly replaced it and sent me...- djgustashaw

Is anyone regretting getting a refurbished ipod yet?
I finally bit the bullet on buying a new iPod with these 5g refurbs; I filled up my 1st gen 5 gig iPod the other day, so it was officially time for a new one. I've heard so many good things here about refurbs that it was pretty much a no-brainer.- djgustashaw

Beautiful PA2V2
Quote: Gary just mailed me that about 20% the amplifiers have been coming late recently but he not sure why. The amps have been slow to a few other countries too! He suggested that just wait a few more days to see how things go. It took mine about 3 and a half weeks to arrive; it was...- djgustashaw

Has a iPod Shuffle failed on you?
Mine mysteriously freezes up from time to time, probably three or four times in a year and a half. It just stops responding to any buttons for a few minutes, but never anything permanent.- djgustashaw

Cheap Amp for Grado SR60
I've been really happy with my $60 PA2V2 paired with SR60's. I got it as my first step into the amp world, I had never used one before and wanted to see if it was worth the fuss; it definitely is. Unlike most people, I don't use it as a portable amp. I just plug it into the line-out on my home...- djgustashaw

I hope this is wrong !
Ugh, this stuff gets me down about pro cycling. I didn't want to watch much of the tour after Basso and Ulrich were kicked out on suspicion. I really hope the second drug test comes back clear... sometimes I wonder if ALL those guys are cheaters- djgustashaw

SR-60/SR-80 differences?
I haven't heard SR80's in a long time, so I don't know if putting bowls on SR60's makes them sound identical, but it certainly improves the SR60's by a large margin IMO (compared to comfies with a hole cut in the middle). The sound "opens up" with the bowls, increasing the soundstage and giving...- djgustashaw
