Yeah, it's the only way to adjust volume, unfortunately. It would be nice if the next version of the Sanskrit would have buttons and would not rely only on a remote. Replacing the remote would be my next step.

W shaped means to me that there are dips in the mid bass and upper mids. It's a V shape with a potentially nasal sounding peak in the mids.

A small difference listening carefully. One thing I remember is an acoustic guitar having a bit more roundness and body on the Sanskrit, but also being slightly less in focus and fuzzier. I would get either depending on form factor since they're close enough.

I could hear the difference in the demo, and it's consistent with the comments. The Sanskrit sounds a touch warmer and less controlled, and the E30 slightly the opposite.

The short answer is yes, they need burn-in. Every Sennheiser I've tried has sounded grainy when new. I'm currently using the HD58X and also have the DT990 pro, and the 58X is grainier, but has improved quite a bit over time. Let them run and you'll be happier.

Mine have the striations as well under the right lighting angle/conditions. I think it's normal and I would leave it alone if I were you.

That's part of their signature I think, even listening to them right now after considerable burn-in.

My DT990s have a wider soundstage, but even wider would be my AKG K612s. If you want wide/larger, look at AKG.

That sounds like listening fatigue to me, and isn't good for your ears over time.

My understanding is no greater than 1/8 output impedance, and people like NWAVGUY (objective 2 designer) say the lower the better.
