    IEMs for motorcycle riding

Hi darkinners, Wind noise in the helmet can easily damage hearing (think tinnitus), particularly with long distance highway travel. Many riders, including myself, will wear high-NR earplugs on anything longer than a few minutes ride. So the IEMs are like earplugs with a bit of background...

I had to look that up. Didn't realise you could tweak the signature like that. Thanks Jim.

    IEMs for motorcycle riding

Hi all,   I've read threads on the subject, but after scanning the 250-IEM-Review thread I'd like to tap into the expertise on the board to get some fresh suggestions for some IEMs for motorcycle riding.  I've been away from the headphone scene for a while, and there seem to be lots of...

    Boardgame-fi

I have Settlers (yes, it's a great game, vagarach) and Carcassone (also great fun). For Christmas, I got Dominion. It's more of a card game, and I've only played it a few times, but it's really growing on me and I can see how it'll remain interesting for a long time. I've yet to win at it, though!

    Best music magazines?

For the indie scene, Under the Radar is really good.

I just registered for a motorcycle course. Advice, anyone?

Hi Uncle Erik, Just to chime in on the brake discussion, here's my take: your bike has both front and rear brakes for a reason. There's no rule that says only use this one or that one, because it depends on the situation. For slow speed maneuvering, ride the clutch and rear brake (you'll do...

What's the first ever record, tape, cd, etc you bought?

Billy Joel - Glass Houses, on tape was the first album. First CD was, I think, Me Mom & Morgentaler's Clown Heaven and Hell. I bought that quite a while before I had a CD player.

Kicking the habit: The quit smoking support thread

My advice: take it hour by hour and day by day. It can be done, and it'll be the best thing you ever do, not only for yourself, but for everybody that loves you. Good luck!

Ol' Saint Deadfolx's Xmas LOD Giveaway

A couple of days ago my trusty LOD went from stereo to mono (one ear). As a result, I've been listening ampless for days... oh dear, that flat, weakly powered sound! Thanks mrdeadfolx! Greg

    Memoryloss, suggestion?

"also, just for the record, I don't do alcohol nor drug" Maybe that's your problem: globeandmail.com: A toke a day keeps memory loss at bay

    Clock Radio-Fi

Josh - the Tivoli works very well as a radio, but as an alarm clock, it has a couple of shortcomings. Snooze is only 5 minutes and not adjustable. The alarm time sets in only one direction (by rotating the clock bezel), so to move the alarm ahead 10 minutes, you have to rotate the bezel all...

So what programs are good for high quality internet radio stations?

Not sure what you mean by programs, but for a high quality internet radio station, check out kexp.org.

    My theory on Cables

If you can't hear it with your ears, try it with your eyes -- I recently witnessed two identical LCT TVs hooked up to the same source via analog cables -- one the cheapy small-gauge wire that comes with the TV, and the other a "monster cable" -- there was a significant difference in picture quality.

    Any good recommendations for books?

Try Nobel-Prize winning Jose Saramago. Blindness is probably a good one to start with. The writing style takes some getting used to, but it's worth it -- he's an incredible writer, along the lines of Salman Rushdie or Umberto Eco.

I've reached rock bottom, and need advice

If you have a deficiency of seratonin between your neurons, no amount of attitude change or talk therapy is going to fix it. Sometimes medication is a necessary part of the therapy. People that say that medication is a band-aid don't understand what clinical depression is. Sure there are...

I've reached rock bottom, and need advice

You're gonna get lots of advice here, but just remember, this is an internet forum about headphones. You should probably talk to a doctor if you haven't already. There's depression in my family (father, sister, brother). My sister made great progress by working out and getting lots of...

Snow Rage - the world is full of idiots

Some people around here are getting pretty testy with all the snow. Shovelling sucks and there's nowhere to put all the snow. Driving is slow, lots of roads downtown are a single lane for two directions of traffic, and other lanes just disappear into snowbanks. It's been a crazy winter...

Have you seen this? The Reactable instrument!

Bjork is so awesome. Reminded me, a little bit, of these music bugs I saw on TV a while ago. You hold them and move them around and smack them for a beat and move the bugs' antennas for synth sounds. Kids were using them. Very cool, but can't find a link. Anybody know what I'm talking about?
