JH Audio Layla and Angie - Head-Fi TV
That's what the JH-3A was originally supposed to be. As I understand it, Jerry filed the patent application before selling UE to Logitech, and when the application was successful UE ended up owning the patent, thus being able to prevent JH from making it. UE is now permanently sitting on the patent.- steaxauce

The Deals DISCUSSION Thread (READ THE FIRST POST!!!)
Rules are rules, fine, but when I see flipping in the classifieds I'm inclined to ignore it because I think it's actually good, not bad, for the community. Flippers are essentially providing liquidity. It's true, if you buy a pair of headphones in a sale for $100 and then sell them for $150, you...- steaxauce

[Review] Sennheiser IE800: Impressions, Frustration and a bunch of What-Ifs
Does anyone have any thoughts on how to import the RCS 800 to the US cheaply? Edit: I guess I actually need the RCA 800. Edit2: It looks like the RCA 800 was never released. Does anyone know of any high-quality substitutes?- steaxauce

CanOpener?
It seems there are now some third party music players that work with Spotify, including one that's marketed for its more precise EQ. Does this mean it is now possible to make CanOpener compatible, or is the app different somehow? By the way, I was very pleased to see that you'll be adding...- steaxauce

Isone Pro - the best thing you could ever get for your headphones on your computer
Quote: Yes! If you're on a Mac. My setup is Spotify -> Soundflower -> AU Lab running Isone plugin. All OS X sounds now go through Isone and whatever other plugins I use with AU Lab. It took a while. By the way, has anyone compared this with the FHX plugin for Fidelia?- steaxauce

MDR-Z1000 new Sony flagship headphones
The price should gradually come down after they come to the US. Such is the way of things. The SA5000 started at $699 and went down to around $350. The Z1000 may very well be a sub-$300 headphone within a year or so, but I'm not sure I'm going to be able to wait that long.- steaxauce

List of DACs that work with iPad
dsissitka said the D12 is working for him, but it's not working for me. When I connect the D12 to the camera connection kit, the USB charge switch in the off position, I get a message saying, "The connected USB device requires too much power." Any advice is appreciated.- steaxauce

Shure SRH750DJ
I haven't seen many posts about the SRH750DJ, but I bought them just a few days ago. They're really fantastic for the money. A little background: I recently sold my Edition 9 and will likely be ordering a JH13 or JH16 within a month or two. In the interim, I was planning to rely on my HD25s, but...- steaxauce

Review: ALO Rx - Double the battery, double the fun
Shigzeo, I'm not sure you understand what gain is. Gain is not the volume setting. There is a gain switch under the front panel of the amp that can be set to either 1.5 or 6. When the gain is set to 1.5, the maximum volume of the amp (when the volume is set to max) is 1.5 times that of the input...- steaxauce

headphone line out and portable amp?
I don't have the time to dig this up right now, but someone posted measurements of the headphone out and lineout of some of the newer ipods, with no load (e.g. the input of an amplifier presents virtually no load), and the headphone output turned out to perform better. In fact, its overall RMAA...- steaxauce
