original price of he90/hev90 was $14k in usa date: 1991
so $40k not really that out of line due to inflation.

ehh...
14k in 1991 dollars would be ~25k in 2015 dollars.
How many interior designs will that marble look good in? Why would you put marble on an amp in the first place?

I'm sure nobody without a 1 mil+ house would buy such a thing, and they probably all have decent looking rooms.

(1) OK I can relax, sit back and enjoy the show ... waaaaaaaay out of my league

(2) Most likely it will take 6-8 hrs to come to a stable temperature. After that it will be rock stable, of course

Think of it this way.  Get yourself a Stax SR009, current price around $4,400, and a Ray Samuels Thunderbolt, current price about $6,500.  That's $10,900.  The new marble, gold, platinum, uranium Senn is 40 grand.  You just saved yourself $29,100!  Go for it!

If this is another orpheus type headphone then this is pointless....a headphone can never go beyond a certain boundary of performance no matter what the price.
