Static electricity zapping USB dac problem

At my office we have a static electricity problem. Whenever you walk around for a while you get charged and zap whatever you happen to touch. It also occurs just sitting at my desk, once in a while I can make nice long sparks fly from my fingertips. The problem is that my USB dac stops...

    Tascam portable cd

Has anyone tried one of these Tascam portable cd players? They make decent gear so it could be pretty good. Thought it may be interesting for the portable cd freaks here. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...&category=7266 edit. I just read the owners manual for the bass player...

    PICS! Headamp No.4

Finally finished building my fourth headphone amp! It's a multiloop amp with opa637 input and el2009 output stage, and a great dual ps that Voodoochile made. I had some 'amusing' mishaps while building it, first time I tried it, it didn't work (or so I thought) all I got was horribly...

Ground question: Separate ps for opamp and buffer stage.

I was thinking of making separate power supplies for the opamp and buffer stages of a headphone amp. But I couldn't figure out a way to separate the ground connections from the powersupplies. Anyone have any experience or ideas about this?

    Massive Attack - 100th Window

Just finished listening to this. It's really good. I'm a big Sinead O'Connor fan so it's a real treat! (she's sings on three tracks) It didn't WOW me like Blue Lines and Mezzanine, but I did have MUCH higher expectations on this. It is a superb album.

Pros and cons of Beyer DT990 and Senn HD580

I own the Senn hd580 and Beyer dt990 pro (250 ohm). I've decided to only keep one of these. I'm leaning towards keeping the Beyer. What's keeping me from this is the huge popularity of the hd580/hd600 and the seemingly total lack of popularity of the dt990 pro. So can people who own both of...

    Happy music.

Just listened to a record by Manu Chao 'Clandestino'. What an incredibly happy record, even though I don't understand the French / Spanish lyrics I feel very happy listening to this. I think they had a big hit in europe last year, I remember hearing some song from them over and over on...

    Anyone tried buffer ha-5002?

I was talking to an Elantec guy about the el-2000 series buffers. He told me about a Harris buffer ha-5002 which is what they recommend as a replacement to el2001. (Intersil owns both Harris and Elantec). The specs look really good, and it is available at around $3 from a couple places...

    dual opamp el2227 / ad8620 comparison

I got a couple of the new el2227 dual op-amps from Elantec today. The specs on them are really good. Comparable to the ad8620. Current draw and power requrements are similar to. The elantec applications guy told me they will be available in august, forgot to ask about the cost. The biggest...

    meta42 opamp fest

I finally decided to try out a bunch of opamps in my meta42 amp tonight. I used hd580 headphones and a Pioneer pd-54 cd player (a very smooth sounding player unfortunately, it would have been more interesting with a more detailed/clinical player) and kimber pbj interconnects. My meta42 used...

    regulated portable ps?

What do you think of this circuit for regulating batteries some more? http://www.audioscientific.com/13_Fa...er_supply_.jpg Need almost 30V to get +/-12 I guess. And about 20mA extra current draw. Anyone think it would make any difference? Or is it better to go for bigger batteries...

    album cataloguer recommendations?

Was looking around for a good album cataloguer/organizer. I tried CD trustee and Collectorz. Both seem pretty good, and cost about $25. Both of them add cd's to the database by scanning them in the cdrom drive and getting album info from CDDB, I definately like this. Anyone here using...
