Beats by Dr. Dre or Monster TurbinePRO Copper.

The MTPC's get some love in the portable forum, so you might to check out the reviews. I believe there's an appreciation thread or at least an impressions thread about them.

    Closed headphone shoot-out: K271 vs. DT770 vs. D5000 vs. SRH840 vs. SRH940 vs. HD 25

Thanks for this. Looks like a tube amp is in my near future.

    Need Help....

I'd suggest picking up the AD700 and some inexpensive IEM's for travel purposes.

Looking for some good airplane headphones for about $200...

SRH840 might be kind of big for portable use, but isolation is excellent. They are sufficiently driven by an ipod. I'd fathom the d1001 might be more comfy for a long flight because they are lighter. But, IMO, the Shures are a better headphone--especially at nearly the same cost.

    Technics RP-DH1200 - thoughts?

You won't find a lot of info about them here, but there are a couple threads where people discuss them for use as primarily dj cans if you want to search for them. I've heard them and own the RP-DJ1200 and I prefer the sound of the DJ over the DH--the DH are more comfy though, but it doesn't...

    DJ Headphones for under $130?

Honestly, pretty much anything will work--I used a set of earbuds when I forgot my headphones once. DJ headphones are designed to be fairly durable, portable and have some swivel options for live mixing applications, but you don't really "need" those features. Sounds like you want a set of...

    DJ Headphones for under $130?

I have the RPDJ1200's and I've used them for about a decade. They've been dropped, spilled on, and chewed up by a dog. Amazingly, after replacing the earpads, they still look almost new. Clearly, durability is top notch. Comfort, however, is another issue. I use these primarily for live...

    MP3 Bitrate test!

Passed both tests using Shure E4's (SCL4's) straight out my macbook. Interestingly, I tried it with my SRH840's and it was much more difficult for me to discern a difference.

DJ headphones, experiences and advice please!

Quote: Like I've mentioned before..if you're really DJing your priorities should be: build quality, THEN sound quality...and in all honesty they mostly sound the same when you're working in a high noise environment..so it comes down to personal choice really. I totally agree. I've...

    from Shure E4 to SRH440 or SRH840?

    from Shure E4 to SRH440 or SRH840?

I'm looking for some full sized cans that have a similar sound signature to my Shure E4's. I listen to jazz and jazzy/alternative hip hop and I've been really happy with the E4's for these genres. I've had these IEM's for a few years now and have not been bitten by the upgraditis bug--they sound...

Most comfortable closed cans for $100 or less?

I live in a downtown apartment and the noise has been starting to get to me. I need some closed headphones that I can use to block out noise while listening to white noise and music. I currently have some Shure E4's but I can't wear them for too long. So sound quality isn't a serious concern for...

    ER-6i or sfi3

The wires are thinner on the ER-6i's, but I've had a pair for quite some time now and the cables are holding up fine. Just don't yank them out of your ears by the cables and you should be ok. If you're looking for bass then look somewhere besides Ety's.
