Westone 4 Impressions and Reviews Thread

It takes time. The balanced sound of the W4 doesn't stand out much, and i can say that i was pretty disappointed with them coming from a cheap, yet much more fun Meelectronics M11+. Over time though, i grew to love the W4's.   Quote:

    Westone 4 vs UM3X

I used own a UM3X before selling it off. I demo-ed a W3 and a W4 a couple of weeks ago before deciding to purchase the W4.   From what i can recall of the UM3X sound, the W4 is much better balanced, with a larger soundstage. The UM3X is far too vocal-centric IMO, and the W4 just has a better...

Westone 4 Impressions and Reviews Thread

I would have to agree. You would remembering me PM-ing you about comparisons between the 1964-T and the W4. I decided to go with the W4's due to wanting to avoid the hassle of getting impressions, shipping them in, waiting for a couple of months and praying for no fit issues. Overall, i'm very...

I have no issue with him being dissatisfied with the fit. I know that no universal can fit everyone. It's just the way he expresses it. I love the TF10 signature, i could not get a good fit, and sold it off. You don't find me on the TF10 thread screaming that its design is "GETTO"? He even...

Westone 4 Impressions and Reviews Thread

I had bought a W4 for a couple of days now, and love the sound. Using the provided clear sleeves, excellent fit and sound. Totally balanced, with just enough bass for my taste. Non fatiguing as well. I could listen to it for hours.

Does a custom IEM have the potential to rival full-size headphone rigs?

It's weird seeing how this old thread i started revived again. Just to add in my experience over the past few months, i have spent more time with my MS1000i, a relatively good full-sized can in its price bracket, and have owned a wide array(again relative, cannot be compared to what some people...

    iBasso D10 Help

Cool. I'll play around with op amp choices more once i receive my customs. One last question, how does the D10 stand when compared against the latest crop of portable dac/amp, portable amp units?

    iBasso D10 Help

Well, mine is probably from the older batch, since i have the receipt from 2009. The op-amp i'm using, AD8532, sounds rather nice from my meelec M11+. However, any suggested op-amps to go with my soon to come 1964-T, which is described as a neutral, darker sounding custom?

    iBasso D10 Help

I have recently purchased a 2 year old iBasso D10 from another person, and is confused about the op amps choices.    The op-amp currently in the D10 is the AD8532.   In the kit, i can see 2 AD8656, 1 AD8532, 1 AD8541 and 2 others whose lettering have faded away and i cannot make out what...

    Foobar2000 Components: Help needed

    1) I am not satisfied with the default foobar2000 tagging features. I currently use mp3tag for tagging, but would like to cut down 1 more program in my laptop. Is there any components that offer good self-tagging features? Especially important would be album art.   2) Are there any good...

200$ budget for portable audio rig

TF10's build quality is top-notch. I would suggest however, that you invest in a modified westone ES cable, which is MUCH better. If fit is really an issue, an upgrade path would of course be remolding them into customs.

200$ budget for portable audio rig

Generally, a portable amp cannot be considered *worth it*. You would generally get better value for money investing that $100 into a better IEM than the RE0. I strongly suggest getting the Fuze instead of the Clip+, while i love mine, navigating 100s of songs on the clip+ small screen is a pain.
