Somebody to build me DYI amp for HD650

Hi,   I have been absent long time from the forum.   Currently I am driving my Sennheiser HD650 on ASUS Xonar ST.   What I would like to ask this wonderful community is whether there is someone skillful for DYI projects to build me a custom amp for my headphones. Maybe a vacuum tube amp or...

HD-650 Veil Update: The "Veil" is Not Real

Do you think that your +1000 dollars cans are flawless? If you think so than your ears are "shaped" as such so that they can not hear these flaws. This is where it all begins and ends. It is called personal preferences. Although I agree that not everything is that subjective but than again we...

HD-650 Veil Update: The "Veil" is Not Real

After reading that HD 650 lacks in the high frequencies and has recessed midrange with uncontrolled bass I came to a conclusion that Superman is writing on this forum.   People please do not ask any more questions. Earthling's hearing senses are inferior comparing to Crypton's and I am so...

HD-650 Veil Update: The "Veil" is Not Real

Quote:   Oh how interesting. This is a revelation brother. I am selling these phones now. I will be jumping into the "beats" wagon.

HD-650 Veil Update: The "Veil" is Not Real

Quote: Absolutely. By using this term a specific type of sound signature is being misinterpreted.   I spent lots of time comparing the headphones with other "harsher" sounding cans but never got to the point of experiencing any sort of barrier for the sound coming from HD 650 even if...

Sennheiser HD 650 + ASUS Xonar Essence ST?

Just a word on the topic:   There are better options. But HD 650 + ASUS Xonar ST/STX is far from weak or inadequate combination.   People listening to audio on their computers will not be disappointed for sure. The card has enough energy to put these cans "on fire".

I am now torn between what to do! Denon D2000, D5000, HD600, HD598, HD650 or?

HD 650 treble is very detailed. It is just not "in your face" and "screaming". These headphones can reveal to the listener even "leafs falling from distant trees". It is just not as bright as other cans can be. Relaxed and laid back sound. They can be very energetic when properly amped though.

HD-650 Veil Update: The "Veil" is Not Real

I was so much into hearing "the veil" that I forgot to listen to music.   The rolled off treble actually makes me think that it sounds like it should sound. Highs do not sound offending to my ears and they are still brilliantly textured with all of the elements in the right place.   I...

    Best headphones under $400?

I suggest considering Denon AH-D2000.   If you have an amp than consider Beyer's DT 990 (250 Ohm) as well. Finally with a proper amp if you can get the Sennheiser HD 650 (open headphone) for $ 350 it will also be nice.   But it all depends on the equipment that you listen music on.  ...

List of Headphones with the same drivers

HD 700 sharing the same drivers with HD 650 would be a great comfort for the HD 650 owners but there is no proof so far.   I was trying to locate a link confirming that Sennheiser HD 465 and HD 485 share same drivers with HD 515 but I was not lucky enough so I can not confirm.

Are Audiophile headphones only for classical/jazz/instrumental?

Expensive headphones are all about details in sound.   For example if you listen to Michael Jackson's "Who is it" on Sennheiser HD 485 and than on HD 650 the difference will be that the bass will be more textured instead of bloated on 650 (you might even like 485 more) but most important the...

Should I get the HD598 or the DT 880 (600 Ohm)

I can also confirm that I found 598 lacking in the bass department. Very refined and probably best in its class/price range with very detailed and textured sound but if you like headphones that provide nice (deeper) bass impact look elsewhere.   If you do not intend to invest too much in...

    DT880 or DT990 (250 ohm)

I never had experience with E17.   However even if the bass level becomes satisfactory you will never get to the point of 990 bass. I prefer 880 as a "classic" headphone over the 990 but if the bass hump is in question, than 990 is the way to go between the two.

    Sennheiser HD650 & Massdrop HD6XX Impressions Thread

HD 650 appreciation!   This is a headphone that feels like wiping your a** with silk :)   It more fun that what I was hoping for. It is very versatile HP. I used to own AKG K601. It was very smooth, detailed and spacious (sound) but was also rather thin sounding to my taste. This one is...

like, but don't love denon ahd2000

Oh, KG Jag is right. I was just thinking of the headphones but now I see that you do not have a headphone AMP. Please do not consider buying the HPs that I recommended without buying an AMP as well. Sorry.
