Thanks for the suggestions! I’ll check them out. Do you know any other multibit DAC manufacturers?

At the very least, make sure you find user measurements and try and demo any AGD dac your interested in before buying. After my experience with the Dac 19 Singularity, I'm hesitant to ever try another dac from them.

As for other multibit dacs, the entire multibit lineup from Schiit is very good (although I'd avoid Bimby until it gets an upgraded analog board, the Mimby gets extremely close to the Bimby unless running speakers). I also really like the Metrum Amethyst and hear good things from ears I trust on the other members of the Metrum lineup.

This question was already anwered below. I'd just say that Schiit has 2 multibits that I'm aware of: Gunjir ~850; and Yggdrasil is >2.5X that.

There is a new multi-bit DAC/amp by Metrum Acoustics that looks interesting and costs ~$1150: https://metrumacoustics.com/product/amethyst-by-metrum-acoustics/

But it seems that most of the multi-bits out there other than Audio GD's & a couple named above are $2K and up.

What was your experience w/Singularity? Interesting to read this. I'm nuts about my NOS 19 & DAC-19.

I stayed away from Singlurity because A. it was so new; and B. I didn't like the sonic comments/characterizations I was reading about how "clinical" and "accurate" it sounded compared to their previous multi-bits. Hell, if I want brightness, I can just go back to delta-sigma...; and C. the name is really lame IMO.

Just to keep this on the Auteur thread--I badly want to hear the Auteur (am waiting anxiously to read comments about how it sounds w/perf pads, said to be darker/warmer). I've heard the Eikon through my NOS 19 DAC, and let me tell you, the earth moved a little.

Zach is one of the US dealers for the Metrum, FYI. Amethyst, so far, sounds like a very, very superior take over what the Bimby and Mimby tried sounding like. It's a pretty good NOS entry-level DAC.

Also, the Singularity's measurements were BEYOND bad. It's pretty infamous for being the worse DAC AGD has ever sold.

Another R2R out there is the Holo Audio Spring DAC. Granted, you need to add a good chunk of change due to having to buy power cables and then the USB->I2S they sell. From what I understand, it's one of the few "Yggy priced and below" NOS DACs that take on the Yggy. I'm actually considering the Lvl 1 over the Gumby/Yggy.

The Modi Multibit is only $250 and paired really well with the Eikon and Atticus.

The Singularity was the worst dac I have ever heard. Its sound would literally change as music was playing. I can't link to the site, but measurements also confirmed what I was hearing. Read @Torq comments on it in the official thread here and elsewhere, he goes into a bit more detail. Plenty of other subjective impressions and measurements by others here and elsewhere. This isn't really the thread to be discussing it since it is off topic.

Does anyone know any DACs that might pair well with the Auteur?
I have a Chord 2Qute, which is outstanding. I have used with both my Audio-gd Master 9 (great) and my Wells Audio Milo (off the charts great!) I love the Chord products and their combination of resolution and smoothness. There is tons of detail, but never any hint of grain at all. Decent prices on the 2Qute now as well...

Ditto @mysticstryk's comments - save on the AGD, no personal experience.

I've had the Modi MB, Bifrost MB and currently running the Gungnir MB. Can't go wrong.

My suggestion, buy the Modi MB and move on to a better amp, or save for until you can pull-off a Gungnir MB.

I'd love to get my hand on a new Metrum DAC for a listen. Been following @PacoTaco's comments on the Auteur, the Amethyst, and Kenzie with continuing interest. Somewhat-similar setup to my own....

I do like and we do carry the Metrum Dac's, although the Amethyst is the only one that I keep in stock as we just order the other more expensive units as orders come in. I like them because they remind me of my old EAD DSP 7000/9000 which I have one of each. It's a somewhat natural resolving sound.

Can't believe we're only a week away from pre-order! I'll be organizing the site as much as possible in the next week, if anything looks off, feel free to PM me!

For those interested in solid state amps, the Questyle stuff, The Milo and The Erzetich Perdifus are three amps that I've heard extensively that pair great with the ZMF 300 ohm stuff. The Moon Neo is a great amp as well. I don't have extensive experience with a lot of the newer Schiit solid state amps unfortunately, a lot of what works well with Atticus/Eikon/Auteur is subjective too so it's always hard to give exact recommendations.

I also will say I've always loved how my Ray Samuels Intruder sounds, I know not current but for a portable unit I have never found anything to more suit my taste.

When are you expecting for pre-orders to ship? Can’t remember what you said it was before, I think it was January or February of 2018.

Big fan of the Metrum Amethyst here. Pairs great with Eikon/HE-6

The inconsistencies regarding the Singularity 19 are all over the place. I've done direct comparisons with my SING 19 with other multi-bit DACs (Bimby, Denafrips Ares, etc...) and found it to be as good or significantly better than them. I've also heard from several people that either owned/had the DAC 19/SING 19 at the same time and they felt the SING 19 was better.

So SING 19 is better than Denafrips Terminator?
