Just profoundly mediocre. For all the spiel of it finally being a worth successor to the H40, I would have happily taken the H40 over it — not because I'm crazy about the H40 by any stretch. I'm a big sub-bass fan too, but it just didn't seem well implemented.

The sub-bass it prioritized so much needed more texture, mids were disappointing for their timbre and recession,

I noticed this. I remember my old u12t mids, with less zest of course, but the level of dip is somehow similar

and percussion would come in overly sharply in the mix...

I used Sony EP-EX11 to smoothen this issue.

I don't think Penon adds the VAT like Aliexpress, and you can probably ask them to mark a low package value to avoid being charged when the package goes through customs. You should contact them.

I was talking about Penon website. Problem for me when buying from Aliexpress is that if an item costs more than 150 eu, then they deduct VAT from final price and leave it for you to declare and pay, and in my country for items that cost more than 150 eu VAT declaration cost additional 30 eu, so VAT + VAT declaration charges. So for me it is best to buy more expensive items from those shops where VAT is included in the final price with no need for me to declare it.
