Beats are tuned for certain music and not for other f.e put some Mozart on them and poor Mozart he will be Boomy bassy music

That's completely false.

First of all, there's no such thing as "Beats are" ... one way... or another. They produce a variety of headphones, each of them with different characteristics.

Second, they do have not-so-bassy headphones that work well with classical music as well as other genres other than pop or hip-hop. One such example would be Studio 2/Wireless.

Don't know about that.......classical music fans usually prefer headphones that remove bass from recordings-I.e. The HD800. Funny because it's the opposite of Beats tuning, just as unbalanced if not more, and usually fetches $1000 and higher.

No bass required for classical what are you on about

Beyers and Sennheiser Hd600 not lacking in bass. You can get a superb Headphone for classical music one tenth of that price. Stop tryimg to justify Beats one dimensional sound by claiming proper headphones have similar weakness too

Just what said and what you just agreed with when you said no bass required in classical music-it gets in the way of the acoustic instrument clarity.

I said nothing about the HD600 and it's not over $1000 so not really considered high end.

Looking at the majority of over $1000+ headphones they have boosted treble and rolled off bass, with exception of a couple of headphones like the TH900 and the Oppo PM-1, the TH900 has both boosted treble and bass.

Anyway, boosted treble and rolled off bass or boosted bass and rolled off treble, unbalanced is unbalanced and I don't give either tuning a pass.

My point is you don't need a bass light headphone or spend over $1000 to enjoy classical music. That's silly and untrue

The Beyer DTs and Sennheiser HD6** are high end headphones with decent bass, always were and always will be. They were the best (dynamics) in the world a decade ago and were always THE headphones for classical fans. Don't think that should change

Price has nothing to do with it.

Just look at Beats!?!?

Two friends that I know in real life own them, and one of them is active at Golden Ears. Despite its limited quantity, Orpheus is actually not rare at all if you know where to look, or simply look closely. I saw one for sale on Ebay last week too.

However, I agree with you. Well, kind of. Almost all vintage or rare collectors headphones are overrated in Head-Fi. Orpheus is not an exception. My mother is a huge Sony fan, so naturally she owned Qualia 005, Qualia 007, Qualia 010, Qualia 017, and Sony R10 Bass Light Version. My mother bought the Qualia 010 for 3,000,000 KRW, which is about 2,800 USD. Sound? Garbage. Slightly better than most $200 headphones today. I actually think the Sony SA5000 (mass production version of Qualia 010) sounds better. I prefer the new Beats Solo 2 over Sony Qualia 010, and spending $2,800 on Beats Solo 2 makes more sense to me than spending $2,800 on Sony Qualia 010. Sony R10 actually sounds amazing. But is it worth +$5,000 price tag? Absolutely not. HD800 and LCD 3 are both in the same league at more than a third of the price of R10.

Now let's go back to Orpheus. Like I said, two friends of mine own it and I have tried it. How does it sound? It's in the same league as HD800, LCD 3, and R10. In fact, I personally think HD800 does many things better than Orpheus, so one can make a solid case stating that HD800 is superior than Orpheus. How much does Orpheus cost nowadays? I live in South Korea at the moment, and the prices here are anywhere between 40,000,000-60,000,000 KRW, which is roughly 38,000-58,000 USD. We can conclude one of two things from my experience with Orpheus and their price. 1: Orpheus is an outright scam, and it is no different than Lil Wayne's 1 million dollar Beats by Dr. Dre headphones. 2: It is not a headphone, but a luxury. Audiophiles enjoy high fidelity sound, so they invest money on good headphones. Sennheiser Orpheus, in my opinion, is not a headphone that was created for audiophiles, nor meant to be used by audiophiles. It was created for those who are so rich, to the point where they worry about whether they will be able to spend all their money before they die. It's a luxury.

My point? It is stupid to compare HE-1000 to Sennheiser Orpheus, because 1: Sennheiser Orpheus doesn't even sound that great to begin with, 2: HE-1000 is almost certainly going to be a better purchase regarding price/performance wise, and finally 3: Most owners of Sennheiser Orpheus from what I know are not audiophiles. The other friend of mine that owns the Orpheus owns it, because he had way too much money in his pocket, and had to get rid of some of them. He much prefers his Bose QC25, for he enjoys its noise cancelling feature that is very handy when he boards his Dad's Asiana Airlines' airplanes. "

You can enjoy classical music on a $10 headphone.

MY point is Beats isn't the only unbalanced headphone out there and there are MANY Head-Fi members and classical music fans that pay $1000+ for unbalanced headphones.

Sad to say the Solo3 will be the best wireless headphone on the market for most of 2017.

- Better sound in wireless mode than wired with AAC. (!)
- Perfect connectivity.
- Delectable sound signature for modern pop music that doesn't drown out any frequencies.

There are a number of modern songs that I prefer on the Solo3 since they don't have the same punch on other headphones.

Yes if what you say is fact rather than opinion then it is very sad state of affairs indeed:disappointed_relieved:

Depends on what you're looking for in a wireless headphone, there are a few others that are perfectly usable but none that offer the same connectivity.

Am still astonished by the quality in wireless mode. They're not really made for high-fidelity lossless music (listeners won't really notice the difference with these between AAC and FLAC), but I was listening to Tidal with a wire with these then switched to wireless mode on my Mac and they sound even better wirelessly with AAC than they do with FLAC. Better yet with Apple Music (no recompression) than streaming Tidal lossless.

After a night of listening to the V-MODA M-100, Sennheiser Momentum 2.0, and now the Solo3 I may even have to say the Solo3 are my favorite of the three for simply enjoyment. Mids are beautifully upfront, and bass is addictively punchy. Treble is lacking but I can listen louder without fatigue.

I prefer these for basically every modern pop song ("Closer" by The Chainsmokers is irresistible, the bass line in "I Don't Wanna Live Forever" is extremely well-extended, "Shape of You" by Ed Sheeran, basically every song on the Apple Music playlists, etc. etc. etc.) Pop, EDM, hip-hip, and most types of rock sound very enjoyable on the Solo3.

I may be crazy but I ended up returning and re-buying the Solo3 and my 2017 model (the boxes list the year) Solo3 has better definition in the bass and treble than I remember.

Have you tested the Studio Wireless?

The Studio Wireless is nearly as good as the Solo 3, if it weren't for the hissy ANC. Can't wait for an Apple W1 Studio Wireless.

It's strange that the Studio Wireless supports AAC while the newer Solo 2 Wireless does not. It never crossed my mind that the latter used SBC though.

No, but will be very interested when the new Studio is released. The old model hasn't been updated for years and is poorly-built for long-term use. Have heard that the Solo3 sounds better than the current Studio.

Apple hasn't had the Studio in their stores for trial for at least a few months, which indicates to me they think it's worth giving all the promotion to the Solo3.
