What's your favorite brand of liquor?

So as it turns out I'm sitting here with a bottle of Mount Gay rum, and it's good, but i can't figure out what about it makes it a top shelf rum.

It's good & all, but it's not better than the rums on the shelf just below it. Not substantially more expensive, either.

My pal who was in the navy for many years says he likes Pussers - I'll have to give that a try some day when I'm feeling rich.

Bendistillery, in Bend, Oregon. (Bendistillery : Legal Age)

They make wonderful, handcrafted liquors. Their Cascade Mountain Gin is a favorite - you can drink it neat at room temperature and it is as smooth as can be.

Bend is a wonderful place to drink. In addition to Bendistillery, the Deschutes Brewing Co. makes the notable Black Butte Porter in addition to many other fine beers. The Bend Brewing Co. doesn't bottle, but has a wonderful brewpub with great food and it overlooks Mirror Pond. The McMenamins have opened up there, too.

If anyone enjoys skiing, golf and drinking, a visit to Bend is highly recommended.

I'm kind of into liqueurs

I also have a few cream based ones in the fridge like Amarula and Baileys and whatnot.

Whiskey, whiskey, whiskey...

Laphroaig for scotch, Fighting C0ck [sic] for bourbon, Rittenhouse for rye.

I doesn't freakin' matter. As long as it helps haze over that Christmas morning memory of Mama stapling my ear to the player piano and yelling, "Mama's got your IEM's!"

I like my mid-range liquors-- You know, the kind where you're not quite drinking like a homeless guy, but at the same time you're not drinking anything super high class.

Cutty Sark 15 Year (Scotch)
Wiser's 18 Year (Rye)
Bushmills Black (Whiskey)
Jameson's 12 Year Reserve (Whiskey)

However, while I'm broke I take full advantage of the bottom ends of all those companies... Which tends to be a good portion of each year.

This is one of my favorite cities in the US. Just plain pleasant, through and through.

The 15 year + Santa Teresa 1796 Ron Antiguo de Solera is one of my favorite rums …

The company, Santa Teresa, makes rum between 4 to 35 years aged in oak barrels that produce a smoky, coffee, vanilla like taste. Their bottle is packaged inside a blue cardboard tube (like architect plan tubes) decorated with a red ribbon and red plastic seal that reads 1796. The bottle itself is elegant and tall, sealed with red wax going from the cork all the way to the neck. Around the neck is a booklet written entirely in Spanish giving it an additional old or aged looking appearance.

When ever I’m in Venezuela I pick up a few bottles as the price there is cheap as compared to what it goes for in the USA, but still worth the spend here if you enjoy a great añejo rum

I am fortunate to live in an area where moonshine can be bought from the dude that lives in a trailer house down by the river.
