Yeah; they changed the mounting system quite a bit. rather than just slots cut into the plastic; they actually have formed nubs that hook into the headphones.

I'm guessing that changing the pads is much easier now then?

WOW ..... finally was able to install my pads back , the clips were stuck and the pads came out ..... LOL 
Well exploring teaches you a lot so totally worth it
