Cheap stuff iBasso DC04.
More expensive EarMen Sparrow.
DC04 is only any good if your headphones are balanced

The Hidizs S9 is a compact digital-to-analog converter (DAC) and amplifier combination unit which connects to the source devices via USB-C. The S9 is the first Hidizs product I have reviewed since the AP60II digital audio player.
The Hidizs S9 differentiates itself from other options at this price point mainly through having both 3.5mm single-ended and 2.5mm balanced outputs on a single device comparable in both size and price to competitors that only offer one type of output. Importantly, S9’s unbalanced output is completely usable as opposed to being an afterthought. Some of the S9’s competitors offer superior heat management or more efficient power draw requirements, but it is difficult to argue with the value proposition the S9 presents.

I read your review. Well done.
A small remark about your comment on USB-C.
USB-C is a specification of the mechanical dimensions of the socket/connector/cable. It says nothing about the electrical specifications.
So one connector or cable might perform very different from another. (Yes I was astounded too when I found out.)

Fellow iphone users, do you know where I can find an otg cable similar to the one below? This is included in a bundle for the dc03, but I only need the adapter and ibasso doesn’t sell them separately afaik. I specifically want it instead of something like the tc28i because as a cable it’s less of a pain to handle. Also it’s bendable

I looked on Amazon and Aliexpress, but found nothing.
You would think this is available somewhere.
Your best bet is using an Apple to USB-A OTG cable with an USB-A to USB-C adapter, but that seems a bit awkward to me.

I've read through the last month or so of posts and just wanted to ask (since I'm getting a phone without a headphone jack for the first time) - is this my best choice below $50 or so, for listening only to IEMs which my Samsung S10e powers just fine?

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0878V8G4...imm_B4K1X9G2Y9DPGMD29HTH?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

How much would I be losing going with something closer to $25, and is the Tempotec Sonata the best choice around there?

Thank you!
