Ultimate Ears Triple Fi 10 Thread

So I have a pair of TF10's in the mail and I've heard there's a lot of problems with the cable. I'm moving around a lab quickly while I listen to music all day so I'm wondering if it would be prudent to spend money on a better replacement cable as a prophylactic measure. In terms of reliability/durability what is the best <75$ cable to go with?

I've been looking at fiio RC-UE1

Westone (a little concerned about the whole "clipping thing")

Chris_Himself makes great cables at ~$75. The Westone is a good option for a cheap cable.

I saw those, and they look sturdy, but 75$ is pretty steep so I'd have to think about that one for some time. Have you tried it? Is it really that good?

I have them on my Triple.Fis. What always bothered me the most about the TF10s was the recessed mids, and these cables really do bring them out (surprised me too, I used to be a cable skeptic). Quality is better too, although the microphonics do get worse. The Null Audio cables for roughly the same price are also a great deal.

From what I'm seeing the Lunes are 120$. I guess you could say I'm a skeptic too when it comes to audio quality and cables too, I'm mainly looking for something that solves the durability issues that everyone seems to be plagued with.

Okay so my TF 10's just came in the mail. I tried using the little nylon ear pieces because I saw people on here like them so much, but they all kept slipping out so I went to the comply's which I'm very familiar with and was at home with the fit (if anyone has tips on how to use the nylon tips I'm willing to give them another shot). The IEM's themselves were a lot bigger than I was expecting. It's not of too much concern except for when I have 1 earpiece dangling so I can hear people in the lab because the dangling piece adds weight and pulls on the earpiece that's in. I suppose the dangling piece might fit in the breast pocket of my labcoat where I keep my source (ipod touch).

The sound was a lot better than I had expected! I threw on yoyo ma's new collaboration called "The Goat Rodeo Sessions" and the music really came alive! I don't have the most trained ear on earth, but the sound seemed a lot warmer but less analytical than my HD 598's although it's a really difficult comparison to make given the difference between IEM's and open air cans. The only other thing I really have to compare it to are my klipsch S4's in which the TF 10's just seem 2-3 steps above in every category (except maybe comfort).

Edit: Not a Bass head but I threw on some EDM and the bass is surprisingly nice

$30 for the vi cable on the UE site, that's what I use. Got a mic and button remote for smartphones.

I hear people go through those cables quite quickly, really thinking I should just drop the extra cash and go with the Chris_Himself ones. Plus it makes me feel good to support a community member (not that I'm really such a regular here but it feels good regardless)

Yeah Chris's cables seem pretty top notch, and unique to boot. I'll probably be getting one from him before long.

Thank you thank you. I'll have some new wire by the time you guys come to me so I look forward to hearing from both you guys.
