Ultimate Ears Triple Fi 10 Thread

Logitech got my triple fis in yesterday and sent the replacement ones out the same day so I should have them back early next week and hopefully the cables come out cleanly this time for when I plug in Chris's cable.  Then I am going to have to sell the stock cable I guess since I won't have a need for it :)

My vi cable broke TT. Now if I still want a mic (I don't care how overkill it is to use tf10 as my handsfree)

I found two choices, either another stock vi cable from ebay, or the 'iPhone Specialist' from Beat Audio. What other options do I have? I want to upgrade using this chance (even simply build-quality/aesthetically) but the Beat Audio cable seems really really expensive

Good luck, when I tried pulling the cable out the first time I thought I was going to rip something apart. Then it got easier and easier so I decided to go with the Fisher cable when I got them remolded just so I wouldn't start losing earpieces left and right.

Other than buying stock vi cables from UE/Logitech when they have them, I haven't heard of any other options, and I have been looking.  I suspect that the lack of reasonably priced upgrades is why Beat Audio can charge so much.

I've particularly liked the westone cables since they greatly reduced microphonics, but how well do they work for the TF3s? Maybe the ear guides aren't as important?

I'm using the westone cables found here
It's a snug fit, but works like a charm; very flexible and light.

I just got some monster gel and foam tips, will see which one fits me better, fit is the only issue I have had with the TF10, and still manage to wear them, but only because they sound so good

I use the monster silicon tips, everything is perfectly sealed.

Would the pins fit? So Westone share the same pin configuration as with ue?

If true, then do Westone have any w/ mic cables?

The monster small-medium tip fits me perfect, the medium and large are too big, cant even wear them. and the extra small are loose, the small may be OK. the foam ones are much more softer and comfortable. now I have 2 pair of tips to use and 8 to give away to friends lol.

I notice the bore in the TF original tips if very large, same as in the Altec lansing i have been using, but the monster one is very small, Im talking about the little hole at the end of the foam tip. and the monster are also longer so you could say the TF10 tip is recessed into the foam, not almost undercover like with the originals. anyone have any idea what am I talking about? I think it might affect the sound.

beat the dog! jk! store those IEMs in higher places(?)

ok inexpensive IEM suggestion, I just got the JVC FXC51 from amazon, its only $23. user Katun was raving about them and saying they were giant killers, check out his inventory, he only kept these.

I dont own top notch IEMs but the FXC51 are good, really good. I like them mre than my 70$ etys MC5 and all the others I have, except the TF10. maybe you can give them a try to know that I'm not crazy.

edit: forgot to describe the sound... punchy bass, good highs but there is harshness, Katun use EQ to elimitane this, very open and clear mids, very differen from the TF10 in this aspect. overall sounds clear and fun.

Update: stretched the living **** out of a pair of large Shure olives, and they seal perfectly every time

Getting them off is going to be tricky, as they've likely shrink-fitted themselves to the nozzles...
