Yeah, I have no idea why Campfire isn't going uni with supermoon. So many people in this hobby don't do customs because there is zero resell/trade value. They'd make a mint if they released it universal. I'd buy one for sure. It's completely unique. Clean. Clean. Clean. But not at all sterile.

Perhaps they want to learn on the job and prepare for a big market surprise with universals after finding out what exactly to improve from CFA lovers?

Interesting; I recall the VE Elysium was introduced the same way. I bought the custom when it was available in custom only. And it is was noticeably different from the demo universal in the texture and quantity of bass. @drftr , you may be correct, and they don't want to have the used market flooded with early universals for sale while they are tweaking the design for final universal production. That's just my less than 2 cents worth of speculation!

From what I've heard it's not being released as a universal per se but when getting a custom you can request a universal-- but CFA has also said that they are going prioritize actual customs first.

Yes, you can actually just buy the universal on ebay right now. Or mail them and make them a price offer. You can't directy order from their Website.

Sorry what I meant was, if you've ordered SM direct from CFA on the Solstice Special, can you email CFA and ask them to make yours a universal for the same price? Not asking for myself, but some US/EU buyers might prefer a uni. I still think SM was designed as a custom and should therefore perform best as a custom, but we'll know soon enough once more people get their customs delivered.

Maybe CA found that fitting with universal is simply too difficult and the ill fit creates huge impact on your listening experience, for example, bass is gone. I was playing with my P1 Max and found tip is very important.

I don't know you might have to try. But I'm guessing if you ask the seller I linked, he might make a good offer himself. I am pretty convinced the earnings on IEMs in this price region must be in the 3-4 digits, percent-wise

Since we have a guaranteed 14-day refund policy in Germany (or the EU, even) I will just try them out if they don't fit or I don't like the sound, I will send them back
