So 2021 is not yet finished... I can add a real kick in the face in there with IE900... Stealth coming in thursday there is still time to get my head turned upside down!
Note that those are very tricky in terms of tips... those impressions only true with my custom silicon tips

IE900 was the first IEM I've tried that was borderline too small for me. Agreed about the bass though...some of the best ever.

Due to stuff being out on loan/tour etc. this is the first time since the summer that all my gear has been with me at the same time and since I'm sending Isa & Timeless to @DanielListening I figured it was time for a family photo. State of my collection heading into 2022:

With nothing super imminent on the horizon for me, and given that I've demoed just about everything out there that is of practical interest for me this should keep me content for some time. New Year's resolutions etc. etc.

Thanks Scubi. That is my magic word for 2021. " Restraint"

I bought this earlier in the year and have yet to read beyond the first chapter - taken back off the shelf with a commitment to read this week in full!

I'd like a book called "the practice of self discipline"...😊

For anyone interested in picking up the Monarch MkII I'd recommend the review of one of my favourite (albeit completely unknown) YouTube reviewers, Aftersound from Indonesia. I've seen a dozen or his reviews and even for much more upmarket IEMs has the guts to be critical and I think he really succeeds in getting the message across. In fact much better than the great many reviewers that are always in awe.

Just wondering whether @Deezel177 knows him?

I love and am continually finding new music. But also me:

I would be like that if it weren't for streaming services. Music discovery is so great with Spotify and Tidal that I get plenty of new music every week.

I struggle with this. Inevitably end up listening to the old reliables.

Do you listen to new genres or just just listen to tracks recommend from what you are listening to?

I'll post my trick here in a week or 2, but I listen to new music 80-90% of the time without any streaming service recs. In fact, it's extremely rare that I listen to any of my favourite albums - perhaps once a decade. I'm sure that'll change with my new babies but once the novelty wears off it's back to business.

I've noted my huge love for electronic music but it certainly goes far beyond - its just I mostly listen to electronic in some shape or form using IEMs... my family not very tolerant of ambient, house, techno, drum and bass etc! But my wife and kids do share a love for music, the below is a playlist I put together that they all enjoy and is a good representation of music I've loved since I was a kid - I keep adding to it as I think of songs. Quite diverse but very much sums up my life in music, bar most electronic - hence the playlist name 'Kitchen Tunes' as they are often played during breakfast, lunch etc.

Edit: I see the playlist includes my full name, not sure I want to leave that here indefinitely!
