For some reason, EQing IEMs gives me this image where you’re “bending” the IEM/track to operate in a way that isn’t optimal. Like, you’re relying on the source or software’s algorithm to not introduce artifacts, compressions, etc. in the process. No matter how good it sounds to me, it’s an unshakeable feeling I can’t explain. ‘Definitely one where feeling triumphs over science in this case. :D

@CrocodileDundee beat me to it, but JH are the undisputed kings as far as CIEM design is concerned. Whether or not you jive with their house sound, the aesthetic work they’re able to do with CNC and metals is out of this world.

Does the KK do well with metal. I've read its great with metal. My Mest MK2's are great with metal as well, but I want an endgame lol.
They are really good with metal if you are also OK with moderately lifted and dense treble.

you could listen to this on mediocre gear and it would still be good. But to to me this is the combination of artistic creativity and production quality that really justifies every penny spent

I was listening to this with XE6 and it sounds horrible :). Not sure it is the music not to my taste or the music not suitable for XE6.

What's your source? Gaea is quite receptive to a little EQ and I find a little bump in the mid-bass works rather well.
Oh sure,I'm listening with my desktop rig now, BF2/Jot2, and using SoundSource on the Mac to add a bit and it helps, but doesn't drastically change the overall character.

Besides, I do want to have a listen to Gaea with no EQ, just to get an understanding of how Elysian meant to tune them in the first place. Which is not bad at all! But I'm already finding it not entirely to my preference for some artists/tracks/genres that really do need that midbass warmth..

Brise Ultimate 8 Wire in the house! :)

20230111_101219-01-01.jpeg

I will reserve my full impressions for when it is broken in, but it's holy crap good. Jewel+Ultimate 8W is RIDICULOUS. I can comfortably say it's at the same level as the Orpheus, different tuning, but in terms of abilities and magic it's right up there. Uber black background, crazy micro details, huge stage, very natural and effortless. Incredibly clean and clear, shockingly so. It has that Orphy fatness and huge note weight, but it's more linear, with greater extension of both sub bass reach and treble airiness. More energetic with faster transients vs Orphy's more relaxed vibe - just super, super impressive. A large upgrade over the 4 wire to be sure, if anyone is wondering. While the 4 wire is amazing, this is something else entirely.

Once it is fully broken in, I look forward to sharing how it truly compares to Orphy in my full review in the coming weeks, so stay tuned. It's going to be quite a battle!

It’s amazing how you got it so fast when we bought around the same time (though I got it from an AD) 😝

Seller sent the correct version last night. My father's now the proud owner of the acrylic ones. Grateful to have these back. Running through the bank robbery suite from Dark Knight.20230112_115709.jpg
These look smashing :)

The latest IEM in my collection: the Lotoo Ti and the Viking Ragnar are made for each other, both sonically and aesthetically. I only have about 75 hours of burn time, but wow!

Looks absolutely fantastic!

Finally, a channel who could try to remove bone conduction drivers and compare the sound of the IEMs before and after. I think we as a community should support channels like this to up the standard of consumer information, maybe one day we will get to a similar level the general tech industry has come to in this regard for consumers.

You can delete it, but I don't understand what it will do? Without BC driver, the sound will obviously be different.

Yeah it is, hmm I mean it can definitely trick you because it gives off that perception of moving air being pushed around in the sub bass but when you focus on the texture of the lows you can tell it isn't a DD. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people (myself included) would fail a blind test if asked what type of driver was doing the lows.
And this is completely true.
People tend to write down certain features of the sound that they like as a credit to the technology itself. But the technology does not sound by itself, it needs implementation. And it can be very different.
Take at least the fact that DD in different IEMs can be configured in a completely different way.

Good move. I just bought the 'replica' (Cardas Clear 4W), which rationally or not is the best cable I've ever owned or heard. My TOTL cable buying begins and ends here; I'm more of a stock cable listener, but this one...this one is something special. Cardas copper voodoo!

It looks very beautiful holistically and organically. Excellent build quality. I hope you like it.
