Brise Ultimate 8 Wire in the house! :)

20230111_101219-01-01.jpeg

I will reserve my full impressions for when it is broken in, but it's holy crap good. Jewel+Ultimate 8W is RIDICULOUS. I can comfortably say it's at the same level as the Orpheus, different tuning, but in terms of abilities and magic it's right up there. Uber black background, crazy micro details, huge stage, very natural and effortless. Incredibly clean and clear, shockingly so. It has that Orphy fatness and huge note weight, but it's more linear, with greater extension of both sub bass reach and treble airiness. More energetic with faster transients vs Orphy's more relaxed vibe - just super, super impressive. A large upgrade over the 4 wire to be sure, if anyone is wondering. While the 4 wire is amazing, this is something else entirely.

Once it is fully broken in, I look forward to sharing how it truly compares to Orphy in my full review in the coming weeks, so stay tuned. It's going to be quite a battle!

Was finally able to try EE EVO with Liquid Links Venom cable.

I can say that this is a very meeeeaty and at the same time clear pairing.
Compared to stock it elevates mid bass and mids while also accentuating highs a bit without making them brighter.
Separation is also improved and sub bass became more thunderous.
Very interesting combo for sure.

Ah I also found a way how to properly tame Kublai Khan heights peaks with silicon tips.. but it is a bit expensive:

Give VE8 a listen. :fearful:

I see that you really like your VE8 a lot. Even better than your Jewel?
I use a PWA August Fun with mine. How about you?

For sure! The magic here is how it does it though, definitely not your normal bass tuning. It graphs with less mid bass than a Traillii but more sub bass than anything else I’ve heard except Diva on max bass. I can go from listening to Linkin Park for example which will sound fairy neutral but with DD texture and then swap over to anything by Excision and feel like I have a subwoofer taped to my ears. It’s a lot of fun, heh.
More fun than your XE6? Is that even possible? 😂 here I am enjoying the added bass and imaging from the Yatano ultimate on my Annihilator and you’re talking about subwoofer on your ears 😆

Does the KK do well with metal. I've read its great with metal. My Mest MK2's are great with metal as well, but I want an endgame lol.

They’re so different that trying to compare them honestly just doesn’t make sense. If I HAD to choose though, I’d say yes I do find them more fun than XE6, but it’s an incredibly different sound. The way they manage to stay “neutral” on one track and then turn into bass monsters for another makes them so versatile for my library. It’s a case of where I’m having my cake and eating it too.

Initially I did find them a bit too clean/transparent. I tend to prefer slightly warmer sounds so there was an adjustment period for me. The best way I can describe them is sort of an upper mid fi quality sound that I just happen to vibe with really well, which makes me appreciate them a lot.

Seller sent the correct version last night. My father's now the proud owner of the acrylic ones. Grateful to have these back. Running through the bank robbery suite from Dark Knight.

KKs are outstanding with metal and other harder rock genres. Some of the best dynamics on the planet.
Ok, I was just concerned they would get fatiguing like the Gaea's which I had for a short period and couldn't stand them with metal. They were unlistenable to me.
