I never thought about that in that way. Interesting how reading novels, tasting food, listening to music have in common with our way perceiving of things and imagination. And as a result rouse our emotion

I'm waiting for one day when you'll photograph an IEM underwater to showcase its liquid aspect and tell a story relating to sushi and PoseidonOf course! How else am I gonna get away with all of my food, film and photography-related analogies?

Yeah not sure how I feel about that the M8 is pretty much the upper limit of what I'd be willing to carry around with me.

Probably because the screens were already built and cheaper to source. Why give it a forehead notch?!?
Still looks like a notch. Just looks like they put a colored led there and a cutout to display the dsd stuff. Not a notch, here it displays dsd res.

Yes, a way to reduce costs including screens for mobile phones, and an excellent solution for showing that info

You don't understand. The M8 and 9 are not easily portable for a reason. They are to be used when you have settled in one place and want to enjoy some nice music. ie sitting in a very comfortable overstuffed chair, by the fire on a cold winter evening with a small special glass of Scotch or Bourbon . You want to roam with your DAP, get a M6 Pro or MX3.Yeah not sure how I feel about that the M8 is pretty much the upper limit of what I'd be willing to carry around with me.
The M8 & 9 are for maximum audiophile enjoyment. No background noise, just the occasional snap or crack of your real fire in the fireplace,

I think as long as the DAP doesn’t exceed a size that could fit in a hand I’ll be fine with it.
I wouldn’t take a DAP like this out for a jog.
I probably also would never allow myself to afford a DAP like this. So in that way my opinion isn’t really useful.
I love to look, but the highest I’d spend is likely $1,000 USD.

If the M9 is a hit you'll likely be able to score a used M8 for that price. They've indicated the M9 will have a different sound tuning than the M8 so I'm curious to see what that entails.
