I was just wincing at an IEM, no need to name names, suffice it to say it's a TOTL from a very reputable brand, which just sounded louder, not better on an amped up DAP, while another one sounded beautifully rendering more details, resolution, imaging, etc. There are just too many variables in what makes good sound, not to mention that good sound doesn't necessarily equate to good music anyway.
Fairly certain I know which one you are talking about😂

Yep I agree with everything. DC Ti does scale like a monster tho.:beerchug:

Astell & Kern SR25ii => CFA Dorado 2020

No matter how much lofty & technical gear I am exposed to this modest little setup never fails to satisfy me.

that's quite different than the $1k

that puts it closer to $600. somewhat crazy for such a short run and given that usb wires are small in diameter. That being said, not the first time i've spent over $600 on a usb cable lol

Cayin RU6 + PW First Times Type C to Type C is wow. The sonic improvement is big.

You realize it is digital bits crossing that 4 inch cable and what arrives at the other end of the cable is exactly the same bit stream than if you use a $4 Amazon basics cable, right? If you are hearing sonic improvements, it isn't due to the cable. It's your mind playing tricks on you.

One thing I’m beginning to notice in the audio world:
Sometimes people’s perceptions of gear is directly correlated to price, and not necessarily performance.
You're just starting to notice this? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

digital cables are all different and change the sound. better or worse it's up to you.
I've used an AQ diamond usb cable many times...but didnt like the sound.
Now, I just changed my ethernet cable to my zen stream

I am an electrical engineer. The error correcting protocols ensure that the bits at the end of the cable are the exactly the same independent of the transport media. It's why the internet can work so well across the world. The only variable is delay or jitter if it's a real time playback. Not going to be an issue across a 4" cable. It's either all the same or none at all. Your mind is playing tricks on you. That's fine. Mine does, too.

But emi and other types of interference can and do affect cables signature even though bits are the same.
