Standard EE fair with respect to size-- I found them quite manageable. RE the reviews...the Bravado II is another IEM that I don't think got a really fair shake. I was very pleasantly surprised at now nice they were when I heard them. If it weren't for my aversion to more v-shaped IEMs lately I'd probably have owned a pair...the bass and treble on those is top tier, and it's a pretty low entry point for EE's TOTL bass driver.

Yeah, I'd be curious to try them out what with their being on sale. It seems like I can enjoy the bass-heavier tunings more any way.

Funny thing with all my fit issues is that the EXT generally seems ok thus far, though I've found I can actually situate them so the cable points down and as long as I have a seal the response doesn't appear all that impacted. It reduces that "in your ear" feeling at the expense of their sticking out just a little more. Not that they're supposed to be worn that way, but just curious if some people might do anything similar.

Trying a size up on the Spiral Dots++ (MS) helped get a better seal. I did get a bit of irritation in one ear, but I think it's because I've been tip rolling and adjusting them a lot early on in the midst of figuring all that out.

I am still gathering my thoughts on it. Spent a couple hours listening and another couple talking to the boys behind the project. These guys have set out with a vision/mission in mind, and that is to bring the experience/delight of what a studio monitor has to offer, in this case, the Genelec, to an IEM. Pretty ballsy, if you ask me. The belief is if you move up the ladder on a studio reference monitor and one that is purely musical, they converge at a single point and become one and the same thing. Is Storm it? Well, I don't know what Genelec or another studio reference sounds like, but if it is really supposed to converge, then I might be hearing it or something close! It is definitely technically sound, I cannot pick any flaws, just whether the tuning is your cup of tea -- for a BA bass, I am impressed, the mids were very balanced, I did not hear any funky quirks (like the FIRs) and the trebles, quite excellent. Resolution, details, all present. Timbre, very natural sounding, neither an enlarged or small soundstage, balanced. All in all, a very good all around performer. I thought there was a tinge of brightness that not only did I not mind, but I felt like it's the residual of great extension beyond the 10K range. Very nice. If there's one thing that really stood out for me, it is the transition from bass to mids to trebles, it is as natural and smooth as I have ever heard it in an IEM. I suspect it's the work they put into the crossovers, like how a full range speaker would have.

I was planning to pop over for a revisit with the Jewel after the Storm but ended up spending so much time with it, I never made it. Sorry, B.
Thanks so much for your reply! oh God now i'm really curious, did they mention anything about official launch? and Did it fit well to your ears?

They're not too badly priced right now, but reviews (at least in the public sphere which we might take with a grain of salt) seemed mixed on them from what I saw, and they're apparently kind of big, yes?
I haven't heard them but the shells do look similar to a lot of the EE lineup which are generally on the larger side of the scale, but well contoured to fit most ears. I can fit the EVO even though they hang out quite a bit whereas I couldn't fit the EXT comfortably due to the nozzle.

As @Rockwell75 mentions above, I think they're a bit of a hidden gem. If you do some digging in the EE thread / around Head-Fi many folks feel they're a great performer, especially for the price. The bass shelf is what had me interested in them as well as the estat treble.

If you like bass heavier tuning, these look to have plenty of that.

EXT is actually a pretty small IEM and it's one of those rare things where the issues with fit stem from people's inner ear geometry and not the size on the outside.

EE's IEMs for me each tend to excel as specialists but work less well as all rounders. There are things that Odin & LX did that I have not heard better anywhere else. Same with Bravado...Lars Ulrich's kick drum on And Justice For All...has never sounded better to my ears.

I too found the EXT fit better with the cable pointing down rather than over-the-ear. To clarify, the way this is done is to rotate the shells 180 degrees and wear the left shell in your right ear and the right shell in your left ear, swapping the cable sides as well so you get the audio channels correct. I actually do this with the Fir Frontier Series and a lot of universal iems with success. I wear glasses and find it is easier/quicker to remove iems when interrupted at work while wearing them with the cable pointing down.

That was also my impression of the Bravado Mk2 from the Head-Fi community and EVO thread. Great bass for the price, especially on sale - Bloom has them for $679 - 15% off

Very true statement.

For me, it's like this:

The Bravado, Valkyrie, Legened X, and Legend Evo excel in bass.

The Spartan IV and ESR MK 2 excel in vocal performance.

The Hero and Wraith excel in upper mid and treble performance.

The only current all-rounder I'd say they have is the Odin.

The EVO is for sure a specialist IMO. That's where my experience with the brand ends though so I can't comment on others.

If the prototypes Jack had at CanJam come to fruition then that may change, as at least one of them was a very agreeable all-arounder for my preferences. Plenty of bass presence for sure, but the rest of the FR also sounded correct without any one part stealing the show.

I saw that... I'm mildly tempted but working on some self restraint at the moment

I guess the question is, subjectively speaking, does it seem like it could be anything close to worth the potential asking price given other options on the market in the $3-5k range? How's the fit?
I think value, whether something justify its asking price or not, is very personal. Considering what top end IEMs are commanding, ie Traillii, Jewel, Red Halo, the Storm at around USD4K, with the Night Jar Mira cable, is in my opinion, well worth it.

Around May/June. It is quite large, but not more than the Odin or Annihilator. I am not a good person to ask for it; only universals that fit me are the FAD Pianofortes/Lab 2 and passably, the Traillii.

It wasn't so much for me due to the upper mids, or perhaps that I'm not generally drawn to really detail oriented signatures. YMMV. With some of my electronic music though, it was peerless.

Aren’t some of the guys behind the company in the “cables make no difference” crew but are packaging it with a $1500 MSRP cable? 🫢

Not that I know. In fact, one of them is the Night Jar guy himself. The 4-wire Mira is very audibly better on the Storm, much like the Stormbreaker to the 1960 proper.

Unfamiliar with night jar. I did have a chat with the owner of subtonic over email, very nice guy. Left quite an impression on me to say the least. Definitely want to get my hands on a demo if possible, or I’d blind buy it if they’re offering promotional pre order pricing like how I got with the Elysian X. They haven’t figured that part out yet though.
