I'm an open headphone guy through and through, so to me the Stax are better. SR-404s, though, are just okay. I'd rather go for HE6s over the SR-404s with any amp. Plus they're incredibly ugly.

I'm gonna have to agree. The new Audeze cans look absolutely terrible, like some kind of offbrand cheapy headphone. Their current lineup looks like absolute sex to me. 
 
On the other hand, I had thought that HiFiMAN's HE-400/500/6 series looked absolutely boring, but once I got my hands on a pair, they didn't seem so terrible anymore.
