Yes, I know it's subjective when we talk about the sound. But buying a headphone without hearing it, means that I need to make a decision based on some opinions of people who have heard it.
I want the better overall sound. For listening music I have a pair of studio monitors with 8" woofer and the bass is there and it's wonderful. It's clean and has impact. I am using Foobar for equalizing it into V-shape to make it sound to my preference. I am searching for something like this on a headphone too.

Has anyone tried the Takstar hi1500?  Not sure if they have the hi2050 drivers but are in a dj style casing?

I've never heard the H1500, but i guess its the open-back version of the HD2000. Technically they are very close to each other.
Maybe the HI1500 has bigger soundstage and less bass. The HI2050/Pro80 models are in a different league in terms of sound quality.
Here's a good comparative polish review:http://zakupek.pl/test/sluchawki/recenzja-takstar-hd-2000/2/

Wow. Selling a well known $200 headphones for a $80 headphone.

I guess having the pro80 as my first real headphone is a good start.

I've also sold off my MT220 for the same reason

To me they takstar is clearly better than the MT220 as a portable solution. The MT220 was a little too neutral for my liking and misses that extra oomph the takstar has. But they do sound somewhat similar overall.

The mad dogs are good but in comparison much too dark. Once you get used to them (like not listen to anything else for at least a day) they do sound great. But I needed something portable as well and the Mad Dogs although closed and come with a shorter cable, they're kind of too big to be portable.

After burning in I also like the sound of the takstar over the MDs
