Hello there,
This topic became so big i just can't figure out which are best of the best.
I do own Fiio E17 and Dolphin Don Scorpio. Arch in Dolphins was damaged. Headphones "tehnically" are playing, but are not aesthetic due much tape used (Even plastic welding didn't help out) in order to keep it in one piece. So i'm looking for the HP in reasonable price.
I can't choose my type.
I'm mostly listen to classical/electronic/jazz. I do like super natural sounds, when violin sounds like violin. Dolphins are "good", but nothing more. When i listen to violin i don't hear that crispy/squeaky sound when musican is playing it.
I was wondering between: HI2050,HP2010,PRO80,TS671. Personally I'm looking for HP that are up to 80$. Would you like to help me choose. I'm aware of the fact that huge part of people are asking for the same question, but this topic is kinda too huge to fly through all pages. I read about 20-30 pages ,but I didn't get satistactionary information.

The ISK HD9999, or the TAKSTAR HD2000 (with a separate purchase of velour/suede pads).....will give you that crispy sound that you are looking for.

Found a Qpad QH-90 for cheap. Girlfriend needs a HP with mic. Means I should get my Pro80 back eventually :)

Is Takstar HD2000 that good for 20 bucks? Looks complete rips off of Takster Pro 80 though.

They are a slimmer and plastic-like version, but are actually well made for their price point, which carries a 50mm dynamic driver that are no joke! And, who ever decides to do the slight modification will definitely hear a big difference in SQ that will drive them way beyond their price point. Just change the vinyl ear pads to velour ear pads, while removing also the cushion covering both speakers, but make sure the velour pads has a mesh screen on them when you purchase them for dust protection. You must measure the ear cup size as well for the right size. They would look something like these in their size of course. This is some examples if your shopping.....

Notice the mesh screen as I mentioned earlier.

You can also check your nearest electronics store like Radio Shack, or Best Buy's if you live in the US, or audio headphone shops else where.

What do you get after modding? .....Excellent transparency with the mids and treble, incredibly wide soundstage, and clean and quick bass and sub-bass. They are very transparent after modding them and can easily be enjoyable for hundreds of dollars less than expected!

Hope this was helpful.....

The HD2000 cups are oval and measure roughly 90*80mm in diameter. I couldn't find any pads on ebay that are made of velour, and would fit. Where did you get the pads from?

I bought them at a Takstar/ISK headphone store in China. But, buying round velour pads shouldn't be a problem, either. They usually can take the shape of the cup since they're flexible and soft.

Mines are actually round like the picture posted, but easily take the shape of the oval cups! Try velour pads 85mm (completely round).

Besides ebay, try Aliexpress, ebay, or Amazon.

See if the Takstar HI2050 earpads would fit: https://world.tmall.com/item/14465120231.htm?id=14465120231&spm=a1z09.2.9.10.3cqXDX&_u=c4r4gfd6242
If they don't, try these: http://shop.turtlebeach.com/us/parts/ear-cushions

I don't know, I'm just making a guess here since I neither own the HD2000 nore any Turtlebeach pad. Judging from the look, the HD2000 cup is probably the same size as the Somic MH463, a bit smaller than the Pro80/Hi2050, and I remember seeing some Turtlebeach pads fitting the MH463.

Yes. Those are the X32 pads. I own a pair. The problem is that those pads are not made of velour, but a kind of fabric, thus, change the sound in a different way. They recess the bass a bit in comparison to pleather pads, but not as much as velour pads do.

In short, I purchased a pair of 90mm round velour pads from ebay. They were a bit pricey at a bit more than 20$ including S&H. I hope it worth it, and I'll like the affect it will have on the HD2000 sound signature.

Well, I just finished reading all 289 pages of this thread. Damn, these Chinese headphones get a lotta love on Head-Fi.org!! Once again, I'm very glad I joined Head-Fi: people know what they like, and they freely share their knowledge. I've learned a LOT here, not just these 'phones, but about headphones in general. Thanks to everyone who made this thread such a fantastic read (too many to name).

Predictably, this plunged me into an Amazon- & Ebay dive for Chinese headphones, though not the Takstar 2010 & Pro80s that are the stars of this thread. I'm a borderline basshead, very sensitive to peaky treble, and have a rather large head, so I know those headphones & all their variants probably wouldn't satisfy. But I was very interested in the Takstar HD6000s--despite their clubkid styling & DJ design, I suspect their sound signature might work for me, assuming I can fit them on my 7 5/8th skull (hope the top-piece is bendable). Ordered them will arrive in 1-2 wks...more to follow on how they sound.

Also ordered another Chinese headphone, the Yenona "adapter-free DJ headphone." The cable looks like junk (easy to replace). That'll arrive in 2 days. After burn-in, I'll report back--maybe start a new string if it's justified.

For what it's worth, I find that much audio equipment, including headphones, is very peaky in the treble--which many seem to prefer. I seek bass-rich, euphonic phones (my standbys are Fidelio X2's), thus this detour into inexpensive Chinese 'phones...I really hope they sound good. Later this year it may be ZMF Omnis or possibly a Denon AH-D7000.

Hello 1clearhead,

I have read your articles and comment regarding the ISK MHD9000.

I was initially going to purchase the ISK HD-9999, but from what I understand, it is more for monitoring and someone looking for clarity,
whereas the ISK MDH9000 is more an all-rounder with a fair amount of bass.

I listen mostly to rock, pop and hip-hop music and the ISK MHD9000 will be used only for music listening on a SanDisk Clip Jam without amp.
Would you still recommend that I choose the ISK MHD9000 over the ISK HD-9999?

Also, I read about someone saying that both sides are not balance, the right side being louder...which you also experience at some time.
Is it the case with all the ISK MDH9000, like a manufacturer production defect?

Thanks for you help.

The answer to your first question is Yes! Since, I own both and listen to both, the ISK MHD9000 are great with rock, pop, and hip-hop and can be easily driven with any MP3, DAC, or AMP. Though, they have extreme bass they also pull-off plenty of clarity and treble, which illuminates to great details on top.

To answer the second question; unfortunately, I can not speak in that persons behalf or experience with them, which was likely to be a defective model. But, they are great headphones, nontheless, and is sure to please on the choice of categories you mentioned above.

Hope I was able to help.....
