Say guys...hypothetically speaking, if I had a pair of HD580's bought in 1994, never used, and I mean never used, in the sense that they've never been taken out of the box, how much would they be worth today?

Somewhere between $100 and $200 is my guess

Id say they should be firm at $250 or 300 if they've never been opened. They're a collectors item now.

That isn't true for me at all, I've seen them sell for $125 used and up to $300 with upgrade cables included. I think a used value for them is right around $180.

could you put up a link to where you are seeing them that cheap? thanx :)

Nope. I live in the classifieds here. I have almost 100 transactions done just through our classifieds, so I see a lot of headphones for sale there. I don't think there are any for sale right now, but I am telling you that I have seen them sold very cheap here a couple times. I know, because I've almost bought them, again.

Hey 580 owners, I'm trying to decide if I should go out and acquire a set of these. I own the predecessor of the 580, the HD560 Ovation. I've also owned the HD600. They both have really nice sound signatures. So between the 560 & 600... am I missing anything by not owning or even hearing the 580's? Anyone own or hear all 3? Any thoughts are appreciated...

have not heard the 600s but have been using the 580 for about 2 decades now. compared to the 560 model they are markedly more transparent but a little harsh in the treble sometimes.

Not IMO. The 580's are nice sounding but I'd rather just pick up another set of 600's tbh. (if I were wanting to)

They sound pretty much the same, the 580s are slightly warmer sounding and cheaper, so why not go with those?

Yeah I agree, (how they sound) All the more reason to just pick up the 600's. The 600's look better too. The 580's sound nice and they are warm but so are the 600's and I like the 600 grills. It's a cosmetic thing for me. The 600 is just sexier.
