That doesn't have to necessarily be true, I didn't ask him if he was sure nor where he got that word from.

Frankly I'm not so anxious to shell out $1400 so I don't mind the wait.....

The last headphone that was hyped this much (Grado GS-1000) sucked IMHO. I hope and suspet that this won't be the case this time around, and the wait may be worth it after all.

Okay the termination i did on the HD 800 cable sucked the first time around so I redid them yesterday for better looks, design and feel. Also I think the soldering was better and more precise ohm wise thought the soldering tip kept falling out or needing adjustment so at one point my right thumb got a tiny burn while adjusting

HD800 impressions based on a ~1 hour(?) listen at a UK (Bristol?) meet, where all others were evaluated under longer term conditions? No mention of source nor amp.

Negatives for the hd800 - "Confrontational design"?

Ok, but not ceteris paribus.

"The amp used for the Denon, Audio-Technica and Grado headphones was the Creek OBH-21 SE, which is a great performing midrange amp that has the advantage of being able to connect direct to an output level CD player. The Creek also houses two headphone sockets catering to different impedances.
As for the Sennheiser headphones, a Grace m902b was used."

All apologies - looks like they are saving folks a bunch of money.

The Creek was my first amp, and absolutely bogus for any sort of 'audiophile' review.

Fail.
