Can anyone pitch these up with the Andromeda?.

I own both. Both have very good sound quality. Andromeda is more treble emphasized than IE800S, with very good treble quality. IE800S sound very balanced with slightly better bass quality. Sq wise they are about on a par, may depend on your taste what you like better.

Overall to me IE800S is the clear winner because of the smaller, more robust housing (ceramic), more comfortable to wear, much better protection against ear wax penetration into the IEM, much easier to clean. Andromeda on the other hand is much more sensitive than IE800S.

Hope it helps. :)

I posted this on the DX200 thread but figured someone here might have some insight. The IE800 thread is DEAD! haha

Pairing Question: DX200/Sennheiser IE800

I just ordered the Sennheiser IE800. I'm currently using the AMP3. The 800 is not balanced so I'll need to go back to the AMP1.

Does anyone have the AMP5 and the IE800? I'm thinking the AMP1 might be a little bright for an already pretty bright headphone.

Thanks!

Please ask this again in ~1 week, I have AMP5 on the way, and I have ie800!

Also, you can quote me with @Dobrescu George :smile_phones:

Other people might also have ie800 and AMP5 as well!

Great! I'm looking forward to your impressions!

Where did you order it?

Don’t forget AMP2, it’s not as powerful as AMP5 but powerful enough to drive IE800/S less detailed than the other but it’s very musical and organic (and to my ears the most of all the AMPs I own i.e 1, 2 and 3... I’ll tell you tomorrow if AMP4 tops it as it’s due to arrive then :D)

As for comparison between XBA-Z5 and IE800 since I owned both, that’s from memory but IE800 has much better transparency and dynamics, as well as extension. On the other hand the Z5 has bigger bass (but less defined) and is more laid back overall.

Thanks! Good call. I also think it's a little cheaper. Maybe one will pop up used.

Hey guys, it looks like the IE800/S have very short nozzles. Do the eartips come off too easily because of this? Or do they stay in place like on the IE80?

They do have a very short nozzle, no issue with the Sennheiser tips of course (they're the best anyway for me, great fit and high quality silicone, plus best sound most open of all the tips I have handy) but yes some eartips do come off (I had the issue with the symbio mandarinEs, didn't happen with the RHA Dual Density). I think since it's shallower insertion with the IE800 compared to other IEMs you tend to use one size bigger tips (I did with the symbio).

Thanks for the info David. Mandarins don't fit in my ears at all. I guess Senn tips will be the way to go. Btw, have you tried the Spiral Dots? Do they stay in place?

No I haven't tried them since the IE800 has very wide bore I think the narrower Spiral Dots will affect the sound (which was the case for RHA dual tips), I can chek later if you want
