Mac Mini > Apogee Duet > sr325is.
 
I am looking for a portable solution between my Ipod and the Sr325... maybe HP-P1, Iqube, Ibasso D12 or Nuforce udac-2... or others?

I just picked up a pair today, and I love them.
 
I have a set of Sennheiser HD650s....and while they're probably a better all around, "safe" headphone.....the 325is to my ear really sparkle with the right material!

I would prefer either the D12 or iQube (with or without DAC) as great combinations to the SR325. Remember if you like the comfort of the HD414 pads but miss the sound of the original pads you can cut a hole in the middle at the size of a big coin.

Based on the sr325, but with "an improved driver design"[/size]

The following is taken from Zanth's interview with John Grado thread .....

"[size=x-small]The i in the 325i stands for improved and the reason for John revisiting this model was two-fold.
The first was because it is the 50th anniversary of Grado Labs and he wanted to do something special this year.
The second and far more interesting for us, is that he felt that it was considered the weak link in the line-up.
He set out to improve it by upgrading the driver with a newly designed model
He also improved the mass distribution as well as decreasing resonance."[/size]


In early 2009, Grado Discontinued The gold 325i and instead released a headphone called 325is.
They also reset the serial #'s to 0.

sorry for bringing the 1st post up again, was only trying to add my no to the orig list, page 1.......etc........anyway my no. is ....1311.......brought these at a good price from the uk around 2005 / 6
Love them, even  though they hurt a bit after a good session.....done no mods to them at all.........Also got + use a sennheiser  HD 580.....which i also love, and a bit more comfy, ..only just found this site..loving it......cheers all , martyn...(uk)

I was pretty set on getting a pair of HD650s before finding out about these, now I'm in a bind, lol. I pretty much only listen to metal with some Post Rock thrown in for good measure, do these really play to the stengths of those genres, or is it basically preference? If it helps at all, they'll be going through an XDA-1 and Schiit Asgard.

I had mine for a few months now. #6463 with the chrome (shiny) finish. Not a big fan of the chrome finish, I really like the brushed metal look of the older 325is.
I did the tape mod for the bowls....planning to try the flat pads as well.
 
Enjoying some Gojira with 'em as I type this \m/.........

What's the difference between the 325is with the chrome and brushed finish?  Anything?
