The 325i and 325is Owners Club.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please discuss these awesome headphones and register your serial number. .

The 325i are individually numbered underneath the bowl pads.
The number will be scratched in to the black plastic.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Information:

-The original Golden 325i was Released in Early 2005 for grado's 50th Aniversary.
Based on the sr325, but with "an improved driver design"

The following is taken from Zanth's interview with John Grado thread .....

"The i in the 325i stands for improved and the reason for John revisiting this model was two-fold.
The first was because it is the 50th anniversary of Grado Labs and he wanted to do something special this year.
The second and far more interesting for us, is that he felt that it was considered the weak link in the line-up.
He set out to improve it by upgrading the driver with a newly designed model
He also improved the mass distribution as well as decreasing resonance."

In early 2009, Grado Discontinued The gold 325i and instead released a headphone called 325is.
They also reset the serial #'s to 0.

#4118 reporting in! No pain, no gain with these cans: can't wear them for very long, but can't give up the bowl's SQ for rock!!

#2640 here, running them from a Mac Mini -> TBAAM -> Gilmore Lite. And I love them!
rs1smile.gif

With the tape-around-the-outside-of-the-bowls mod, I couldn't be happier with how they sound. And there are no issues with the previously piercing highs, since the tape mod evened the sound balance out. I can wear them all day without fatigue. It's near perfect, though I think a slightly warmer amp than the Gilmore Lite might make them even better. Someday!

I also really want to try them out with the Grado Liberators that "dark audio" sells. Unfortunately they haven't returned my email yet.

Since I'm convinced they're the ideal headphone for me, I want to upgrade my source, but want to make sure it'll be one that's not too bright and maybe a little warm. Anybody have experience with the Entech Number Cruncher series of DACs? I want to buy one but am unsure if it'll be a good match with the Gilmore Lite & 325i.

Dunno what the serial number of mine is. Mine were recabled with Cardas by cantsleep. They sound pretty good, definitely less harsh and better detailed. Really good synergy with the PPX SLAM. I think tubes are definitely a must for these phones.

As phooie! Just a word of warning for you that hadn't noticed it. But as an owner of the "other" aluminum housing Grado I thought I'd check and see if I had a S/N.

....I don't.

But I did pop the bowls off to check. And although I did try to index them so's to get them back on the same way that I took them off, I failed!

When I put the pads back on, and the cans back on, my nice comfortable bowls went somewhere else to be replaced with something not quite so nice.

They look the same....but.

Interesting. Thanks for sharing . So it must only be the 50th anniversary 325i that is numbered in this way?

Anyway looks like i have the highest serial # so far?

Where are the other 4700 owners ...ive almost drank all the scotch and smoked all the cigars

That's a good point! I wonder! I happen to have non-serialized MS2i; but I wonder if the earlier SR325s have a S/N, both the earlier silver SR-325s and the even earlier black models? But yeah, just the anniversary model would make more sense at that.

Hey guys! Anyone else want to check in before the scotch and cigars are all gone!!

I"m a proud member, i love em, absolutely amazing, but lately my dt 770's have been getting more play, (just got em) what's the tape mod do? if you tell me it gives more bass and less shrillility i would do it the second i got home.

is there a good thread that show's what all the different conditions of 325i's are andn what the result is? ie flats bowls, comfies, hole cut out comfies, taped, c-padded... i've heard of all of these but do not know where they stand against eachother....??

#1876, and since it was pointed out in another thread, I noticed that I have the crappy coating on mine. Oh well.

I had mine on, listening to some Seether through my Woo6 when I saw this thread. Pretty nice, and not as sterile as my Gilmore Lite. In fact, I may actually *gulp* sell my beloved GLite. Maybe.
