#5492 here. just got mine tonight. quite impressed really. after some of the things i have read on these forums i was doubting my purchase. well once i heard them with some metal, i was in love. i just got them so i will have a more detailed post later after i have listened to them for a couple of days.

Those are absurdly marked up prices in the UK, a savy businessman would open up an office in the US and buy direct from Grado and then import to the UK for more competitive pricing.

I must have a big head or something because I prefer the weight to the SR225. The 225 always seemed like it was going to fall off. These cans are truly amazing though. Wonder what the RS-1 sounds like

I have a somewhat smaller head and I have the same problem. I don't have a problem with the plastic models with reversed and modded Senns 414 pads, but the bowl equipped aluminum housings are quite a bit heavier indeed! I have kinda trained myself over the months to control some of the head bobbing and transfer some of the energy to foot stomping!!

...ok; that's a bit of an exageration, but yeah, I have sorta toned down the head bobbing a bit. I still have to be careful looking down at the keyboard when I type though!

Well I got a pair of 501 and 701s at the same time and I found although the 701 were a little more detailed than the 501s, they were only suited to certain types of music (Jazz etc), where the 501s were a slightly better all round headphone IMHO. So I kept the 501s for lighter music and wanted a rock headphone. I listen to a lot of Matthew good and similar music and always found my SR60s were more enjoyable for this type of music compared to either AKGs.
So I decided to give some higher end Grados a go and I was not disappointed, I find the 501s and the SR325is are good to cover my tastes in music.

The SR325i are certainly more in your face compared to the AKGs, but IMHO that's what makes them good for rock. But I am going to compare the 501s to the 325s in the coming days to get the full picture.

I always think of the two headphones in these terms 701s = A large opera house and the 325is = A small concert hall.

I just did a comparison between SR60 and SR325 un-amped into my ipod shuffle, I was not expecting to notice a difference, thinking the shuffle would not provide enough juice, but surprising the difference is night and day. The sound with SR325 is a lot more detailed, there is a little more sound stage and the bass is a well WOW, the bass becomes less of a background sound and more of an instrument (if you know what I mean).

You can see the phones I have owned in my sig and of all of them, there have only been two which have truly made me simile with joy when listen to them for the first time and they have both been Grados.

I think I am in love
