The Official Beyerdynamic T1 Impressions and Discussion Thread

Ironically, I already own 2 dt 770 600 ohm drivers (one inside my dt 770 headphones, and one inside a pair of custom one pros), but I still want the tesla 600 ohm (I own those drivers too now, I haven't put it in anything yet).

So I received the 100ohm resistor adaptor and have been using it with the T1 for a few days. There is a noticeable increase in the lower frequencies which gives the headphones a more fuller sound. I've not entirely made my mind up on whether I prefer this or not. Without the resistor the T1 sounds leaner and gives the impression of a cleaner sound. Needs time to adjust I'm guessing.

no the resistor adaptor I got effectively increases the output impedance of the amp.
I don't think you can change the drivers' impedance.

edit: there was a recent article on innerfidelity about output impedance and its impact on the frequency response of high impedance headphones. Was also trying to mirror the fact that the beyer A1 and A2 amps have 100ohm OI. Can't be certain how close the sound is to them as I don't own them, but was an interesting experiment nevertheless.

I was expecting to have to increase the volume, but surprisingly the volume is hardly affected. The volume wheel is almost in the same position as before, around 10 - 10:30.
I can change the ohms of resistance of any pair of drivers then, huh?

That silver jack is the 100 ohm resistor adaptor. T1 is connected via sennheiser 6.35 to 3.5 adaptor.
I also bought a 75ohm resistor which has a noticeably less impact to the T1's sound.

Do you guys know of any way to tame the mids of the T1?

when it's a little hot, a little judicious EQing through jriver mc20 works for me

Okay, so I contacted beyerdynamic and found out that the T5p's ear pads are made of real leather and they cost US$205. Whereas, the HS 800's ear pads are also leather, but they only cost US$99 and are far better for noise isolation and have a viscoelastic filling (so they are soft and squishy like a more firm version of honey in a cellophane bag).

Think that i might just cave in and get a normal T1 housing, and just use my I.E.M.s for when I am in the library.

Good decision. Your sanity is back

Why do you need to do that? With my iTunes equalizer off, my T1 coupled with Arcam DAC & Woo Audio WA2 sounds amazing.
When hooked up to my Pioneer receiver, yes, I do have to EQ. I am also told that Beyer QC is not
as good as other companies. I received mine with strange sound imbalance out of the right cup.
Piano hits sound distorted, some vocal treble way too piercing, plus other annoying anomalies.
I sent it to Beyer to re-callibrate and now, they sound like they should.

Anyone know what size Pelican case fits the T1s nicely?
(or another hard case recommendation)

Hey everyone, I'm probably about to order a Rag and as such would like to convert my T1's to balanced. I'm considering doing it myself, but mostly for the peace of mind I'm leaning toward having someone more experienced take care of it.

I'm not looking to upgrade the cable, I just want the stock cable cut and reterminated plus an XLR to 1/4" adaptor created out of the other side.

Does anyone know of a shop (or head-fier) in the San Francisco area that would do this?

thanks so much!
