I would do a simple continuity test on the headphone jack.  sounds like it is just a bad connection.  doesn't make any sense you would get no sound from it sitting in a box. suspecting a connector issue.

You can try changing the RCA channel of your amp and see if the 'dead' channel is still the left one. If it is, then the left channel of your T1 is actually dead, otherwise, it's not your T1.

Quick question, can the T1 be used with balanced cables?

The cable can be easily reterminated into balanced connectors. But if you want to change to detachable cables then that would require professional service or level of skill I guess...

It sure can, and it comes with one of the easiest cables to mod for balanced if you didn't want to replace the whole thing.

Ive done all that - and im using HD800 right now so its defo the driver

got the foam pad mod in the mail, thanks a ton but haven't been able to get myself to remove the Audeze pads just because they are so much more comfortable then the stock pads even though they are too boomy and dark.  I think they have become my new dark music cans for stuff that appreciates that blend, like AC/DC for example

Trust me - you'll be glad you did the mod! (but they may become ever so slightly darker with the Audeze pads after)
