At least he'll be able to put the color versus sq to rest. I am myself highly suspicious of a device of different color having dissimilar characteristics knowing that the company rep himself said there are no differences. I am siding with Vinnie saying that the only variable left is the component choice, that I would believe could have an impact.

Try a different port. Had some issues with v2.01 on my rwak100 on win7

Black is always the safest choice. Cant  go wrong with it.
 
I like my silver with brown casing. Not sure about gold tho.

If your AK is black, stick to black case.
IMO, brown looks nice on the gold AK.
Haven't seen a silver AK in person, so can't comment
