hey guys. i've done more testing and the shuffle issue seems to be related to the size of the list being shuffled, not the characters per se. I loaded a 64 Gb card with around 1600 files and set it to shuffle and it worked with no issues. keep in mind some of these files were some of the same that were giving me problems when i tried to shuffle my list of 15,000. So there seems to be limit to the size of the list that can be shuffled without creating the character issue. i will test further to see how many files can be shuffled safely.
Almost 9000 tracks on a 400Gb and no shuffle trouble. No special care on the track names as I have French characters in them. So far so good but I have used it for only 4 hours. The SD comes strait from my DX200.

Had mine about a week now and everything is fine for me except tidal :frowning2:
I got a trial membership and will be cancelling after this nonsense, not worth the effort for the amount of use it will get!

How did you format the card?
Something is screwed up - navigating between folders or albums (through R3 GUI) is VERY laggy. Like 2-3 seconds after screen press until it displays the folder content (folder is 1 album, so 10-15 tracks on average).
Want to format card. again. Tried exFAT with 128KB allocation unit size (for 200GB card). Will try again...

Use https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/ it's an official formating tool for sdxc cards.

Format using the long version

Lot of issues, lot of issues, it's quite bad Hiby. Maybe open sourcing at least a part of the OS would be good ? I'm sure that a lot of us would love to help.
Also, where the luck is that leather case ? Didn't you say late June ?
That's a little exaggerated. It is a new product, actually not yet released on the market. There will be a lot of updates, and they are specialists in their field. No need for an open sourcing thing, give them some time. It's still a ridiculous request from people who don't know anything about it anyway.

Both my 400gb Sandisk cards used in my Fiio x7ii work without any problems. exFAT, 1200+ tracks mostly Flac & DSD. Filled by drag and drop on a Windows 10 pc to at least 3 other daps over the last 6 months.

As you have Fiio x7II how would you compare the sound of R3 to Fiio.

And maybe Iranonfr can do some comparison to DX200, very interested.

Thanks

It's very good but not as detailed or as wider soundstage, but considering the price, size and weight, it's much more practical for on the go use.

looking for impressions between r3 and mojo. Wondering whether it'll be worth to stack.

@Joe Bloggs

Received my R3 yesterday. So far extremely disappointed with it.
Still on firmware version 1.06, so hopefully when I get a chance later today I can update and check for improvements.

Two major problems at the moment:
1) Cannot connect to home wifi. Sitting beside router, 2.4 and 5 GHz bands present, WPA2 PSK encryption, visible SSID.
2) Using the device in DAC mode, I could hear audible distortions, clicks in music. Sounds kind of like popcorn popping.

I made a recording (flac file here), playing a 1kHz 16-bit/44.1kHz tone from my laptop, through the R3, and recorded on the same laptop via its 3.5mm input.
Careful to lower your volume - this was recorded at full-scale.

EDIT: waveform recording does NOT demonstrate distortions. Looks like I accidentally recorded the outgoing (to R3) wave form, not the incoming. Will update shortly.

EDIT: correct file with distortions is here.
