The New AEON 2: It's The End Of MrSpeakers

Reducing bass in AEON 2 C is a trivial mod for those who want a lighter tone. Take a small square of black electrical tape and 50% cover the port on the black baffle. 75% coverage reduces output even further. This is a mod that takes one minute and is 100% reversible.

Hi @mrspeakers, thank you for pointing out this simple mod and how it can affect the sound signature of the A2C. I was wondering if you could also describe the intended affect of the various dampening pads that are included with the headphones. The packaging materials indicate that the black foam pads are the "least dampening" and the white felt pads are the "most dampening", but could you clarify what that means in terms of sound signature of the headphones when using each of the dampening pads? Does "most dampening" mean that there is a reduction in the higher frequencies, or the lower frequencies? Or does it mean something else altogether?

Thank you!

Less damping = a little reduction in high frequencies, most damping = greatest reduction. Sorry if that wasn't clear.

That actually brings up my question... how would people compare the A2O to the MDxFocal Elex...?

I’m very curious about this also as I have the Focal Elex. I’m interested in the Aeon 2 Open.

Aeon 2 open and closed in the house!

Now compare the closed ones to the Z1R, TH900 MK2 and the Aeon 1 Closed. Stat.

I have the TH900mk2 and love it for its impactful bottom end. It is also, till date, the widest sounding closed back which I have heard.

The A2C has a really nice mid range and treble, I feel that it is overall more resolving and more tonally correct. Sound stage, thou wide, is still not TH900Mk2 levels but I think placement is more accurate. The A2C’s ability to fold in half also works in its favour as a travel headphone, I also think the A2C weighs lighter and is overall more comfy on the head.

In conclusion, I love both (TH900mk2 & A2C) to buy them but they are also different enough for me to keep both.

Hope this helps, happy listening!

I like the A2O! They arrived today and out of the box, sounded very good. My bet is by Black Friday this week, they’ll sound even better. I only spent 10 minutes with them and look forward to listening again after Thursday. @TSAVAlan likeky has more eartime on them

I did that with the T50RPs and I love them. I'm nervous to mess up such an investment. Even not just about breaking them but making them lose value. Fingers crossed I could just swap on the blue one from the V1s

Can't write impressions on the Fostex since we are not a dealer for them but can for the Z1R and original Aeon Closed. Will likely go ahead tonight and do it on the M Scaler/Hugo TT 2 since I have two outputs so I can A/B at the same time!
