The New AEON 2: It's The End Of MrSpeakers

I've found Audiophile Ninja cables to be less microphonic and more durable than Hart Audio Cables.
Thanks! Gonna try them out, and the top Forza cable, as I've tried Fog and Hart before. Both of them are kinda cheap feeling, IMO. I love my Forza cable!

Here is the $85 Audiophile Ninja cable VS $249 Forza Noir Hybrid cable:
  • The pre-splitter cable of the AN is pretty stiff, and the post-splitter cable feels bumpy and cheap, like most of these cheap, typical paracord cables.
  • Both cables could use better, more obvious L/R connector markings. Forza puts a green mark on the R connector, but why is there also a green mark on the main jack, unlike my previous Forza cable..?
  • The Forza cable is amazing, as I expected... Very soft, very flexible, very premium build, and offers a slight bit of extra jack length than the AN.
  • The AN cable is fine, and solidly built, but has soft, rubber cable protectors at the connector ends. I think the quality is better than Fog City, even at a lower cost.
  • The connectors of both cables annoyingly squeak when rotated.
  • Sadly, both offerings lack any customization at all beyond connectors/jacks/length, in stark contrast to Fog City cables.

I always wanted aeon 2 noire and I thought maybe convert open to closed back.

My understanding has always been that open and closed versions of the same headphone model have unique tunings,

depends. dt1770 and amiron home, dt700 and 900 pro x shares system(same driver and tuning to baffle and driver)
I think aeons and beyers measure similarly in terms of difference between CB vs OB.
so I thought it is worth a try. I also have friends who have noire and Headphone measurement setup, so that can help.

My understanding has always been that open and closed versions of the same headphone model have unique tunings, so it isn’t trivial to convert open to closed (or Vice versa)

That has always been impression listening to both the OG open and closed version of the AFC 1, it was just a different tuning. Usually there is a big drop in sound quality when going closed.

I have no idea what Mr. Speaker did to make the closed version sound as good as the open version though, that is some strange voodoo.

xlr to trs adapter from the original trs end.
Hi,
I`ve just made the same plug change. Thanks to your drawing it was much faster
but
I have two more wires in my cable: there are two pairs (red, black; green, white) and those two I white thick silicon tube. They are not connected anywhere on Hirose plugs side.
Does your cable has those white wires too?
I soldered them to shield pin on XLR plus, those might be for additional mechanical reliability of the cable.
Please, let me know.
Thanks.

Nope, mine didn't have those, just the four conductors in my photo.
