Of those I've own/previously owned:
1) r10
2) k1000
3) rs1 (vintage)/ps1
4) he90 (caveat in that i don't really feel engaged with e-stats, but for e-stat lovers, it's probably alot higher)
5) hd800
6) hd600

I know where I am on that spectrum. We also know where Acix is on that spectrum.

Wait how can you have analytical mids? I'm not shure that makes sense to me

AD1000PRM have better mids than AD2000, try them out if you love female vocal.

Stax O2's in general, but for voice the 4070's are the king. I havent heard any dynamic that pleases me more than these two.
In portables, the EarSonics EM3pro's beat the JH13's, to my ears, of course....

Analytical may not be the right word. How would you describe the spectrum? Lush or euphonic vs. ???
Grado style vs. K701 style?

There is a division there somewhere that I'm failing to describe properly.

I know it is possible to be both lush or euphonic and detailed. Plenty of headphones demonstrate that. So equating analytical with detailed does confuse things.

The SE530 really has wonderful mids. I just wish the highs weren't as rolled off or I would have kept them. They were terrific.

That makes sense. I just don't see how you could listen to vocals and be thinking about detail. It's just very, well, analytical, yes. I guess I'm not an analytical listener.

IMO Lambda Pro & the Spritzer modded 404, MS Pro and HD800. All quite on par in repect of sheer mids.

We are talking about the FR, not MSRP

My STAX has the best mid so far. It's not just better than any of my other cans, it's much better by a huge margin.

Doesn't mean much tho. All my other cans are never known for good/decent mid

In my experience, AKG's as a company offer the the best mids in most of models even on vintage ones like the K-141.
The second individuals hps will be the DT-48E as natural mids, and the Fostex T-20 v2 as lush mids.

My two favourite midranges so far are

1. Ety ER4
2. K701

I've heard stuff besides these, but I don't think anything else I've heard really compares that well for something that I enjoy. Ive not heard anything notably high end recently enough to really pass judgement

Its been to long since I heard a grado to really comment, but I remember quite enjoying the MSpro

The HD600/650 and SE530 I did not like. The highs ruined the timbre of everything, and nothing sounded real. You could have the best fundamental in the world, but without the overtones to support it properly you are just going to have a sound nothing like the original.

The whole concept of emotionless headphones is totally lost on me as well. They are simple machines and arent out to ruin music.

You have accurate ("Analytical") and unaccurate ("Euphonic", apparently which isnt even an apt term because euphony is subjective), and that's all there is to it.
