IBasso sell the adapter? If I'm going to go balanced it's got to be all the way

Mainly lacks the painful satisfaction to know I sank 4 digits into a freaking digital audio player... or the ability to bash i-devices with a snobby smile on my face at meets or show  :p    /s

On a more serious note, mids sound different in that AK120 has more body and sound fuller, while still maintaining the resolution/clarity.  Mid bass differs in a similar way but to lesser extend.  Treble seems to be more refined/lacks sparkle (glass half empty/half full).  Soundstage have more depth but may sound actually narrower on busy/complex tracks.  The difference isn't really night and day and has to listen intently to familiar tracks.  Many a time I "find" some "deficiency" and switched to the AK120 on the same track and well it wasn't really immediately better (e.g. "em... voice sounded thin..."  "oh nevermind it is like that on here too").

They sound different for sure, but if I need to "squint" my ears to listen to different and struggle to decide which one I like better, it made the decision to sell it quite easy.  Afterall I gain the satisfaction of having 4 digits of cash back in my pocket now.   :D

Just hope the firmware will arrive at a point it is as stable.
Thanks for the answer...I am all set with the 901 for now as I listen mostly at home or the office but I might get one of these for my sister.

I think the UI doesnt bug me... it is really just how some tracks cannot be played even using file browsing mode and freezes the device...
if a perfectly normal music file in supported format cannot be played on a music player, I think it warrants to be called a serious defect..

Received my DX50 this afternoon and have spent couple of hours with it.
Compared to the HDP-R10 I used to own,  Dx50 is less dense and less smooth in vocal.
Sound stage is good but 3D imaging is weaker than HDP-R10. The sound from Hi-hat is somewhat too "sticking out" to my ears.
Extension of treble is good.
Overall speaking it is a neutral sounding DAP with excellent build quality.

Note: Be careful when you attempt to place the screen protective film. The film itself is extremely dust attracting.

I have that problem occasionally. It thinks you;re tapping to stop it. You need to have longer strokes and press down firmer, otherwise you're just going to continue doing what you show in the video. One fast stroke can get it to scroll very far anyway.

Finally got the DX50 today! Everything is so nice. The only few things that are a bit discouraging is:

1. It freezes easily
2. Because I am using mac, need extra time to delete those hidden copies created by the finder when copying files
3. Spoiled by the touch screen of iphone, makes me feel that the screen of the DX50 is a little insensitive

I only has an ipod classic with ie80, will write the impression if anyone is interested

The Rockchip RK2926 CPU in DX50 is quite decent. LOL Rin under kill it with OTG with a 8GB USB flash drive.

I suspect that DX50's USB OTG may be able to run 2.5" SATA SSD of 512GB (if power supply is sufficient). After all, even the lowly CPU and battery of iPod Video can run a 256GB mSATA SSD. At the very least, DX50's OTG should be able to run a 256GB mSATA SSD.

Would be interesting to see more OTG with battery-powered HDD as well. Any more attempts?

just looked up the specs and it is quite a good little CPU. should be able to easily handle everything if the firmware is optimized enough....

I may get one and try some different caps. I am interested in that dac and the price tag seems good for diymod.

Caps already look upgraded and chosen. 2x 220mf in parallel so 440mf per channel. Should start a gentle bass roll at just over 30hz into a 16 ohm phone. 3-4 db down at 20hz and flat once you get to about a 24 ohm load.
That's better than most (330mf) and plenty good for it's intended use.
